Great breakfast spot, easy walk from Canal

Took a stroll from Canal down Magazine to the Lower Garden District. Stopped at a few open air markets along the way. Nice morning walk and excellent breakfast and juice choices. Cash only but there's an ATM inside. If there's a wait, just stick around, chances are you'll get in sooner than... read more

We asked a NOLA local for a good brunch place and she recommended Surrey's without hesitating. The place is lovely and located in a nice neighborhood close to the Garden District. The brunch was delicious, good service and a good choice of freshly squeezed juices.

Had an excellent lunch combo with gumbo, sandwich and a tasty salad for as little as 12 bucks - strongly recommended !

Went for breakfast this morning. It is about a mile from my hotel in the Warehouse District, so we took a nice stroll. We arrived at a great time, not crowded, and we were able to sit immediately. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp n grits and I the Bananas Foster French Toast with 2 eggs and home fries along with... More

I woke up before everyone else while on a bachelor party and had heard of this place from a local. Decided to hoof it from the Quarter House since I missed the StreetCar, which turned out to be a bit of a hike. But I figured it would help me shake off the hangover, which it did. I had a... More

We drove to Magazine street to enjoy a local breakfast in the garden district. It was wonderful. It's local, eclectic, and the breakfast food is wonderful. Maybe try the mango chocolate French Toast or the mushroom and ham croissant. It's away from the Quarter and worth the trip and then some.

Though our B&B across the street served a lovely breakfast every morning, our son needed some pancakes. We found ourselves eating at Surrey's. The giant banana pancake with peanut butter was gigantic and delicious! Get there early. Folks line up.

You think it's a little hole in the wall and well, it is. But it is a delicious neighborhood joint that I never miss for breakfast in New Orleans. Try the migas, cheese grits and biscuit. Fantastic.

Worth the wait outside on the side walk to get in the funky restaurant with Excell food. We were staying midtown in the Garden District and Surreys was recommended to us by the bar tenDer the night before. the device was good, prompt and efficent, the BBQ shrimp and grits was so good! Highly would recommend.

I arrived early and luckily was seated without a problem. The best coffee I had in all of New Orleans. Two breakfasts in a 4 day stay. The homemade hash was unique and incredible as was the omelet with brie, avocado and crayfish. Very attentive wait staff.
