Tied for the best shrimp & grits in the city

Had not been to Surrey's in awhile, so we invited some out-of-town guests to join us for lunch there on Friday. After 5 days of Mardi Gras, I needed a fresh juice bar and this was perfect. I got the Orange, Kale, and Grapefruit juice. It was so refreshing and good, you have to just splurge for the large. Food wise, I ordered the shrimp and grits and it could honestly be the best meal I've had in years. Absolutely phenomenal.... More

Great veggie po-boy here, you don't find that in other cafes I look in. It was very tasty! I liked also all the little houses with mirror that was the decoration inside.

We had a walking tour scheduled at 10 in the garden district. It was a nice crisp morning so we thought we'd walk from our hotel in the CBD. This place was well reviewed so we decided to stop here for breakfast on the way. Unfortunately we strolled a little too slowly on the way here so we didn't have... More

I love shrimp and grits, and a bartender at the Roosevelt Hotel said that Surrey's was the best. We specifically had brunch there to eat the dish and it did not disappoint. Plentiful gulf shrimp with a creamy sauce - one of the highlights of our meals in New Orleans. We arrived at 10:30am on a Sunday, which is probably... More

We were told there would be a wait and we just slipped in without one. There on a Wednesday at noon, so maybe not so crowded. Had a great breakfast, which they serve any time they are open, and excellent biscuits and cheese grits. Very nice local atmosphere.

Decided to have breakfast here after seeing this place highlighted on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. While Guy highlighted the homemade bagels... skip-em. Had the onion bagel. Anyone who has ever had a New York or NY Style bagel will think they are eating a round piece of bread. Ordered the Crab/Avocado omelette. Spectacular! Ordered the Shrimp Remoulade omelette. Even better.... More

Delicious, local fresh food! I loved how they had fresh juices and many healthy options. The place is laid back with a fun artsy vibe. Highly recommended.

This place is a mom and pop shop that has a variety of specialities to choose from. It's small and intimate and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I was supposed to get biscuits and gravy but I sat in the best spot where the food came out and changed my order to the Montana plate. I heard about this... More

This place is seriously awesome, I went here three times over my 6 day stay...that's saying something. I got the migas every time. My boyfriend tried different dishes each time but he raved about the corned beef hash the most. Do NOT get their toast as a side, it's cheap bread, their biscuits on the other hand are seriously good.... More
