In the heart of the Garden District, this small restaurant on Magazine Street is absolutely fantastic. They were spotlighted on DDD and did not disappoint. I had a made-on-site bagel that was the best I've ever had that would rival any NY deli bagel. Service was great and prices reasonable. Highly recommend. 10 on Bob's 1-10 scale.

Everything here is delicious - the line outside is worth waiting for! I love the Shrimp and Grits - but other plates on our table were equally tempting: Huevos Rancheros and Pain Perdue were excellent!

Went there for breakfast on a Sunday and had to wait one hour but it was worth it. The place has a special and unique feel and it shows that a lot of love goes into the different dishes. I had a Costa Rican breakfast and it was really good, a generous portion, beautiful presentation and great taste. Although I'm... More

This was a full on brunch assault, in a good way. Furthermore, it is a little bit out of the way so you're in a really cute neighborhood across the street from a school and next door to some wonderful homes.

I had lunch there once and wanted to go back because they had so many good items on the menu but I wasn't not able to make it. The bread they make there in house is super good. My wife and I split the grilled cheese with tomato and pesto. It was SO good! We also split a juice and... More

Nice little place where a variety of people go. My first time there wait staff friendly and help full. I had the smoked pork Cuban on marbled rye, very good. Check their website before you go to see if it's your cup of tea. We were meeting our daughter there otherwise I might have passed on this one but I'm... More

Had a breakfast sandwich instead of the bananas foster French toast. Dumbest decision ever made. The sandwich was good. The bananas foster woulda been an experience. SO had shrimp and grits. Good. But not the bananas foster. I confessed to a local that I skipped the bananas foster. They told me to just go home. Next time....

We stopped in for breakfast today. Great place with lots of vegan and vegetarian dishes - and they also offer meat choices. The eggs were fluffy and fresh. The French toast with maple syrup were out of this world. Looking for a great breakfast place? You found it!!

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
