We stopped at the Chartres House for dinner and were extremely satisfied with the cajun food and hospitality. First an foremost, I really want to recognize our personable server Angela (Mgr Angela was nice too) for being so friendly and welcoming. If you are somewhat new to Cajun/creole food as I was, I recommend the "New Orleans special" (top of... More

Stopped by for dinner on an evening in December. Ordered a Swamp Water to drink, very tasty! Appetizer was delicious, I think we had Alligator bites. I ordered jambalaya for dinner, excellent flavor, but the rice was undercooked.

bar and restaurant 2 blocks from bourbon st, nice break from the noise but still plenty of people watching. Drinks were $12 a piece, kinda wish that would have been listed but honestly I would have still ordered them. Greeted us as soon as we walked up and seated right away making sure we were comfortable. The server, Emily, did... More

We inundated this place with five kids from 10 months to 5 and 3 adults. They gave us a table in the courtyard and treated my daughters like little princesses and took great care of us the entire meal. They also didn't yell at the kids when they started to play with the fountain water. The food was wonderful. i... More

Had dinner here, we sat in the downstairs bar area. Really liked the food. Shared the fried green tomatoes and also the "Taste of New Orleans" which was a selection of four different dishes including gumbo and jambalaya. Service was good and reasonable prices.

Thank you for not only stopping by for dinner, but also for taking the time to share your experience. I'm glad you enjoyed the fried green tomatoes. Next time, I recommend you try the shrimp remaulade. It is served on a bed of fried green tomatoes & is just the right balance of downhome & savory. See you soon. More

I stumbled across this place walking around the area, looking for lunch. I liked that it was open to the street, and good for people watching. I was by myself in N.O. for a conference. The waitress was very nice and let me take my time eating there. I got the grilled red fish, which was fantastic! I enjoyed watching... More

On our last night in New Orleans, a rather chilly evening, my girlfriend and I were looking for a place to drink hot chocolate and Irish cream. We tried a couple of bars, but most didn't have any hot drinks except for those involving coffee. So, instead we decided to simply get bread pudding. We happened to walk by this... More

We almost didn't go here because we stopped by for lunch at 10:55am and they rudely told us they didn't open until 11 and shut the door in our face, but I am so glad we went back for dinner. I have been looking for a place with local beers, and Chartres House did not disappoint! They had a great... More

You cannot get a better Bloody Mary (or two) than Chartres House. Lovely bartender and good people watching on the street.
