I think these were the best raw oysters I’ve ever had. We were only in NOLA for 2.5 days and I had a very packed list of things to try at different spots – glad we went on Day 1 because in spite of our short time in the city we knew we had to go back on day 2... More

This restaurant is street level at the Sonesta Hotel. It was my first time in NOLA, and I wanted a hearty, traditional dish. My server was extremely welcoming, friendly, and helped me with my selection of gumbo pasta. It was absolutely delicious. There were several items I wanted to try; I would have gone back for other meals there, but... More

Every thing you order here is delicious. The baked oysters are perfectly prepared. The Grits are perfect. The Gumbo has the best flavor.

While staying in New Orleans, you must visit the Desire Oyster bar and see Miss Kitty! She's awesome and will definitely lead you to the right places! Usually, it will be right back the Desire!

I'm not an oyster lover, but this is a great place to have breakfast. With Big Bill Broonzy music in the background this was perfect for me. Had one snack meal here too - huge!

We had lunch and breakfast here. The oysters were amazing. Our party loved the gumbo and fried oyster po boys for lunch. The shrimp omelet was a big hit at breakfast also. The only dish we had that we would describe as average was the chicken fried steak at breakfast. All the other dishes were great. They also have great... More

We enjoyed a fantastic breakfast here of Jambalaya Skillet. It had potatoes, shrimp and sausage. It was probably the best breakfast we ever had. The service was friendly and timely. This restaurant is connected to the Royal Sonesta Hotel. We would love to go there again.

$1 Oysters...yummy, large, fresh on the half shell. But, the real treat is the Char Oysters...as we were told, order the dozen...the 1/2 is just a tease. Great window seating open to Bourbon Street. You will have great drinks, delicious oysters and you will see it all on Bourbon Street. Oh yes, ask to be served by Robert.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
