For our first trip, my hubby suggested this place after reading reviews. Even though it looks like a dive, it was some of the best, friendliest service we had in New Orleans. I highly recommend everything that we had; blackened chicken salad, red beans and rice jambalaya, but the best thing I tasted there was the fried chicken. From now... More

I found this place by accident and I was so gald I stopped in! The restaurant is more of a bar and it's very small with limited seating. That being said you may have to wait to be seated. Luckily I was alone so I sat at the bar.The atmosphere is dark and kind of old. Let me just say... More

This place got recommended to us by a local. A bit off the beaten path and always crowded (which is a good sign) but the service is quick, friendly and efficient and the Cajun fried chicken with the rabbit & sausage gumbo was amazing :D we will be back!

We had the chicken and loved it but not so much the filthy bathrooms. Oh well, just don't use the bathroom and you will never know. The air conditioning was also broken

Carry, the no nonsense bartender, and Damien, the head chef, are the centerpieces to the most unpretentious crew in the New Orleans food scene. Duck Quesadillas, Rabbit and Sausage Jambalaya, and Alligator bites are a few of the eclectic items on the menu. However, the Oyster Po' Boy's are the very best in town. They call Carry Smiley because he... More

If you want a real flavour of New Orleans Coops is a must visit. The menu is local, not over priced and a reasonable selection. Note this is not a high end restaurant. Wait times can be lengthy as it is now a tourist destination. My wife and I always visit Coops when in NOLA. I recommend to try at... More

This was our favorite restaurant! It was recommended by some local shop owners and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing!! Make sure to order the sampler appetizer! There were four of us and we all ordered something different. Everything was amazing from the traditional Cajun and creole dishes, the fried chicken was amazing and the pork chop was... More

Eric our bellhop at the hotel had told us about Coop's Place if we wanted some local food. It was AWESOME. Service was great and it was busy, with all tables full at dinner. Got the Taste Platter that had a little of everything and it was just what my husband had been wanting since we got into NOLA. Their... More

Jambalaya is amazing. I cannot say that enough. Place is not visually the most impressive but the food, wow, the food is outstanding.

Really spicy gumbo, awesome fried chicken. The place is often very crowded. But just a really unique place to sit down and get lunch. About as far as you can get from a chain joint.
