Coop's Place in a hole in the wall. Of course, so is the entrance to a gold mine. I suspect if you're looking for 5-star dining and are acclimatized to white-linen tablecloths, this ain't your place. The entrance door hangs crooked on its hinges. There are cobwebs hanging from rafters. Stella, the house cat ("EVERY table is Stella's table!" according... more

A nice little spot tucked away on Decatur Street, Coop's definitely serves up a tasty dish. I really wanted to get away from some of the touristy places, so I asked a local where to go - and they said emphatically Coop's. A rather small restaurant, it has a cozy atmosphere with the menu on the board as you walk... more

If you go to New Orleans enough, eventually the you'll learn about where the locals go. If, you use TripAdvisor, you can find them on your first trip. Coop's is one such find- go there if you want Cajun/Creole food. I would suggest their sampler platter (I don't remember it official name). It comes with cup of gumbo, shrimp creole,... more

We went to Coops because my partner had stumbled upon it during her last trip to New Orleans. The place was cozy and the atmosphere was friendly. The food was phenomenal and the location was excellent. We ordered fried mushrooms and they were HUGE, tasty, and had delicious horse radish sauce. I had an awesome BLT, with enough food to... more

There are so many touristy places, its hard to know the good from the bad. But Coop's Place was the real deal. The bloody mary was awesome, the jambalaya was quite different but wonderful. The smoked duck quesadilla was fabulous. I am only sorry we weren't able to get back a second time on this trip to have a Po'... more

We ate at this place because at least 4 locals said to go here. The seafood gumbo was awesome! My husband and I shared the "taste plate" and the chicken tchopitoulas. Both portions were huge and the jambalaya was really good. What we didn't like was that there was a cat just meandering around the restaurant. My allergies let me... more

We went to Coop's Place looking for some local cuisine. My husband got the Coop's Taste Plate. He was looking for a good jambalaya but held off on this part of the meal because theirs contains rabbit. He says that the food was pretty average. I got the Pasta Italiano and it was nothing special and the portion for dinner... more

Went here on our first night in New Orleans because it was open late. We got to this place around 10:45pm. It was PACKED! We got a seat within 5 minutes (right timing) and ordered right away. The local brew was pretty good. It was called Abita Amber. We ordered the: Marinated lamb ribs: served with red pepper jelly ~... more

Wow! I love animals too, but not at my table or in my plate. Per our waitress, there are health and sanitation code violations on a daily basis in this restaurant. I was flabergasted. Coop's Place is a restaurant for NOLA locals primarily. I invited a friend to enjoy the lunch time menu and to celebrate my birthday. What an... more
