I really like the food here.. Easy menu and very relaxed down to earth atmosphere... Amazing Fried chicken and grilled fish.. We also had some gumbo and salads all good!

On vacation in NOLA, we decided to ask the locals where they like to eat. On recommendation, we found ourselves in Coop's Place. We passed this place a few times walking around the area, and to be honest, it's not exactly the type of place I would have chosen. It turned out to be the best meal of our trip!... More

Walking through the Vieux Carré we stopped to read the menu of a well-known restaurant when a young couple recommended the restaurant across the street, Coop's, instead. Hardly a destination by name or appearance we discovered why Coop's is a local treasure. We found our meals to be spectacular, the fried chicken with red beans and rice was out of... More

The employees have been known to be rude in a funny way. When I asked for water to drink I was told where the river was. I asked for a long straw. The food is great here. Make sure to try a salad with blue cheese dressing. My favorite is the duck quesadilla but they are also known for their... More

A great place for gumbo. The real stuff! If you are passionate about your gumbo - eat here! In the Quarter and easy to get to.

Seriously, the place is a dive and you'll wonder why you're waiting in line. And, then you'll taste the chicken and understand! It was absolutely worth the wait! If you'd rather have jambalaya, I personally would recommend the rabbit/sausage over the Jambalaya Supreme. Crazy delicious!!!

I don't normally eat fried chicken, but I had been told I needed to try Coops. I'm so glad I did! The chicken was delicious. I had red beans and rice with it, and fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Heavenly! The tomatoes were served with a remoulade sauce on top of them with shrimp. This will be a regular... More

It doesn't look like much on the outside (or on the inside) but had a fantastic meal and great fun! I was looking for a quick lunch. Ended up sitting down with a table of Rugby players from Dallas who saw I was alone. Had tons of fun... Plenty of drinks and the food was very very good! The waitress... More

We went here for lunch on the recommendation of a local, and we're glad we did. Don't expect anything fancy or charming service. It's not that kind of place. But the red beans and rice was excellent! And the fried chicken was right up there with Paula Dean's in Savannah!

Coops is a great little bar to have a very casual drink and good dinner. They have cajun veggie burgers on french bread, YUM! Its a small little place so go early or you will have to line up outside. Coop's is in a fun section of the Quarter near the French Market, so its very convenient. Its also on... More
