Good Jambalaya and Gumbo

we were in NOLA recently and wanted down & dirty Cajun cooking. We were referred to Coops. and I glad we went there. Just what we wanted, simple delicious food. Next time there I want to try their Fried Chicken which I hear is outstanding.

When I first went to this place I was a little taken back...The size...VERY SMALL...but the line was VERY LONG and people were not going anywhere. They were happy and waiting. Once we were inside, I knew why!!!! THE FOOD and the SERVICE was great. Cozy environment!

This place was recommended to me by the locals. I was traveling solo and lucky for me as their was a line out the door for a seat. There happened to be a single chair at the bar that I was able to procure. The atmosphere was a small, crowded restaurant that seemed to have a lot of locals around... More

I don't know why this restaurant was recommended by a couple locals. It was pretty dirty looking and obviously started out to be more of a bar/lounge rather than a restaurant it seems. They try to accommodate as many diners as possible so you will probably have to share a long table with another party, which is fine. The food... More

My review is going to be brief. Food is good but that's all it has going for them. Staff can be rude, small space, kitchen is outside and cooked there, bathrooms are unclean and horrible.

The food was absolutely horrible!!! I had the sampler and let's just say I've eaten better in jail on a Friday. Doesn't smell like a restaurant, it looked as if these just warm up the food and drop it on your plate. Totally disgusting, this place should be CONDEMNED!!

Make no mistake, Coops is a bar with tables, not a restaurant. With that being said the food was delicious. I had the rabbit jambalaya. It was spicy, flavorful full of andouille sausage and rabbit, cooked so it melted in your mouth.I then had the fried chicken that was the best in town. I accompanied this with a (read several)... Hello, We recently visited Coop's Place and kept overhearing multiple people say they were going there. So we decided to check it out and for once the hype was right. The food was excellent and so were the bloody marys. I would recommend this place for sure and wish I had gotten a chance to eat there more than once.... More

Rustic decor and friendly service. The combo had everything. If you have a sensitive stomach then chose the chicken.
