Solid food, musical ambiance

Had a fun time at Mulate's restaurant on Monday night. Ivan, our waiter, was attentive and very quick. The restaurant was partially filled - it's a huge venue. The band played half of the time we were there but there were only a few people (mostly little kids) dancing. The food was solid - ample... read more

Truly baffled. Waiting time 30 minutes- OK - seated after 30 minutes. Waiter: your food order will take another 90 minutes!! Granted, it was memorial day weekend, but have a bit more consideration and honesty. I ate at Mulate's during conventions and they were able to accommodate large crowds. Do not know what happened and do not really care. Hope... More

I had the shrimp po boy remoulade and it was made with boiled shrimp instead of fried shrimp and it was really good. The poboy is served with French fries and it is on a huge loaf of French bread. Way too much bread for me but it did have a large portion of shrimp as well, you can easily... More

Two words. Crawfish Etouffee. We went back for a second visit just to have it again. So good! The building is cool with French doors and exposed brick. Live music band at the front of the restaurant was a little polka-y. Not the kind of music we expected and it was a little loud. Some nice jazz - more saxophone,... More

If you like Alligator or Red Beans and Rice then you will love this place. It is located near the Convention Center away from all the madness on Bourbon St. Have to take the family here every time we visit New Orleans. Food is great although a little pricey. Our family of four typically spends close to 100 dollars for... More

We had first visited this restaurant in Breaux Bridge, LA. We were hoping it was replicated in NOLA. It did not disappoint. The food is great and the music and dancing in the evening is culture that needs to be shared with our children before it is gone. Cajun at its finest!

Went here for a meal, as it was advertised in one of our foodie books. There was a great atmosphere when we got in. Very busy indeed. Went to the loo, don't think they get checked very often. Waited 45 minutes for a table so had a drink at the bar which was packed. Got seated, food was okay no... More

I have been to Mulates many times, the last one just recently while in town for the Jazz Festival. A couple of members of our group had never been to New Orleans so Mulates was one of the places on the list to give them a great first time taste of the city. We went for an early dinner in... More

Needed a quick or normal lunch in the middle of convention time and this place would not be the right one for us, on hindsight. Granted, it was crowded, but our food took 65 mins to appear. And even then, 6 entrees turned up and they were 7 of us. 10 mins later, the 7th entree came, so it took... More

The bread pudding was the best ever! Soft moist and wet! Boudin and the bbq shrimp were also amazing! This is a must when in New Orleans!
