Our table had both gumbos and they were just plain bad. They are well known for their BBQed shrimp, but mine were so difficult to peel (over-cooked?) that it made eating them a chore. Desserts were something you would find at any chain restaurants. With all the great restaurants in NOLA, why would anyone eat here? more

If you enjoy good food, don't bother with Mr. B's. The gumbo is below average; almost all of the wines by the glass can be bought at Costco and the vegetable of the day was broccoli.. Excuse me, get a little more interesting. My husband ordered a grilled pork chop cooked medium, and even the manager agreed it was under-cooked.... more

Extremely racist restaurant. They are closed during the Essence Awards Festival...that weekend. Reason...it's a black event is what they tell their employees. I would never support such a restaurant. They need to replace the manager as well....believe her name is Katie. They want to be upscale but really have no clue. Go to Oceana's instead. No white tablecloths, but the... more

We visit New Orleans every year and like to try to get to one new place each year for a nice meal. This year we waited until Sunday and found the few places we had on our list were closed. So last minute we called Mr B's and made a reservation. We have been there twice before both times were... more

Went to Mr. B's for dinner on a recent trip -- we made reservations for Saturday night, which seemed like a wise choice. Atmosphere was nice, if not a little crowded. People were variably dressed, everything from shorts to suits. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, as were the other servers that helped us. They quickly... more

I had the grilled oysters, and gumbo YaYa, both of which were very good, served with awesome crusty bread loaves! I ate at the bar, since I dined alone, and met a few nice people, including the bartender, who was really nice, and mixed great drinks, too! People were dressed casually, and some a little dressier. Great atmosphere, and the... more

The service is exceptional at all levels and friendly. The jazz brunch trio plays in the different areas of the restaurant and can be heard from all seating. I had the special for $34 which was the spinach salad with ponchatoula strawberries, 12 Oz. ribeye cooked to perfection, sliced potato, and a hugh portion of scrambled eggs with truffle butter,... more

Had dinner at Mr. B's. It was pretty crowded and our table (with reservations) felt like it was stuffed in the middle of a walk way, people were constantly bumping into us. The food was ok and we both enjoyed it. It wasn't the best meal I've had in N.O., but was good. Manuel, our waiter was great. He also... more

I was so looking forward to the BBQ shrimp from Mr.B's after reading all the reviews on TA. I was not disappointed. They are messy but so good. If you are squeamish about taking off the heads of the shrimp yourself and peeling a messy shrimp, then this is not the dish for you, but the flavor was so worth... more
