Jazz and Great Food: What's Not to Like?

Mr. B's is a classic New Orleans Creole bistro. It really sets the standard for this type of place. We went for a great Sunday Jazz Brunch (featuring a live jazz trio) during Mardi Gras. We had excellent barbequed shrimp (better than Pascal's Manale!) with plenty of bread to soak up the sauce... read more

Six of us dined here and each ordered a different entrée; ALL 6 meals were EXCELLENT!! Drinks are delicious and well made. Desserts are to die for!!! Employees all highly attentive and kind with a sincerity not often seen in a tourist city. We returned twice in our 5 day visit, and have sent many friends there when they were... More

My Husband and I were there on Feb. 7th and I was so disappointed that I never got a chance to eat there. I went because a lot of friends of ours recommended it. We are there at 11:00 am, did not get seated until 11:45. There was a couple standing in front of us to be seated but they... More

We stopped in for lunch on a friend's recommendation. Showed up too late for lunch in the dining room (2:00 pm sounds early), but we were able to eat at the bar with a more limited menu. Even with the limited menu, had some great selections. Had both the seafood and the yaya (chicken and sausage) gumbo. Both were delicious... More

We really enjoyed our meal here at Mr. B's Bistro. The hit of the table was the Rabbit. It was tender, tasty, and something one does not find at a lot of other restaurants.

Everyone in the restaurant was rushed--taking our order, getting beverages and food and removing plates before we were done. Thus food was undercooked and had to be returned twice. Seafood gumbo was not warm and had almost no seafood in it. Iceberg wedge fairly good with good dressing. White chocolate brownie only so-so. The tables were so close together that... More

We lucked into this place after finding our first choice of eatery was closed on the weekend. We immediately felt comfortable when we walked in, and the great atmosphere continued with impeccable service and delicious cocktails and food. My only gripe was with my duck entree, which was a little dry and needed more sauce. Would definitely come back if... More

New to New Orleans and found this restaurant during Mardi Gras. A great find. I had the pork chop. Heavenly. A huge cut, perfectly prepared. Cooked and very juicy with a wonderful flavor. I had the ginger sauce on the side. Best i've ever had. Husband had the gumbo yaha soup. He gave it a rating of five out of... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
