Spicy shrimp, spicy fries. Does everything in New Orleans have to be spicy? Ended up at the food court, not our first choice. Figured it looked okay. Food was ordered but ended up having to wait for a while to get the food. Tables near it were very nasty looking so had to walk a ways to find a clean... More

We were shopping in the New Orleans Riverwalk and stopped for lunch at Mike Andersen's. The Gumbo was good and the oysters very fresh. Not your usual Food Court meal!

During our recent visit to New Orleans we went to Mike Andersons twice but only got to eat once, we enjoyed our meal, it did take quite some time for them to prepare it. It is located inside the newly renovated Riverwalk outlet mall, it was previously a full service restaurant located in the French Quarter but it didn't return... More

Food was so so... I've had better food in Louisiana! But the oysters were awesome! Slow service, and messed up drink orders a few times. I would suggest going somewhere else for Cajun food...

We ate at the Port of New Orleans location in Riverwalk Mall. You order at the counter, wait for your order to come up, then take your tray to a table. There is a nice view of the Mississippi River and all the shipping traffic and you are in air-conditioned comfort. You also have an option of going outside -... More

Learned of Mike Anderson's in Gonzales, LA by chance & went looking. Good quality, well prepared crawfish. I had the Crawfish 7 (crawfish prepared 7 different ways). Good way to get a taste without being overwhelmed with quantity although, I still had leftovers. Deep fried items (crawfish & hush puppies) were excellent; oil was fresh & hot enough to produce... We were leery of mall food but very hungry; we gave Mike Anderson's a chance and were surprised and delighted to find that the seafood (combo plate) was very fresh and good. Would definitely eat there again.

The food was average. The service reminded me of old and rude New Orleans of the 70's & 80's. Back then, rudeness in the tourist business was the norm. Well, they welcomed it back. The oyster poor boy was OK but not the best poor boy the city has to offer. New Orleans has much better food than this and... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
