This is a small local restaurant off the beaten path. We took a cab to get there and it was really worth it. The food is terrific. Two of us ordered the house specialty, BBQ shrimp and loved it. One of us had the shrimp po' boy and one had the fried oysters. It was all excellent.

Cathy and I went for lunch, and the GF options (not surprisingly) were almost non-existent. Not surprising, because the great items at Liuzza's are schooners of beer, po-boys, and fried seafood in all its incarnations. not chaged an iota since Katrina, come when you want to go to a divey local spot, not GF dining.

Neighborhood corner iconic dive. Made internationally famous by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. All of that but the menu is really interesting and food is done really well. Gumbo is unique with a thin roux and blend of spices. BBQ Shrimp Po Boy is a pocket sandwich in a French Bread roll. Menu good across the board. Service... More

I have been to New Orleans once pre-Katrina; once post. I returned to Liuzzas and was thrilled that it remains one of the great lunch places in the entire U.S. Make sure to try their gumbo, bbq shrimp, fried shrimp po-boy and if crab cakes are on the menu don't hesitate to order. In the wonderful St. John Bayou area,... More

Adjacent to the Fairgrounds Racetrack, the home to Jazz Fest this quiet watering hole serves up some great food. Good specials, generous drinks, sorry, no horses allowed in the bar. Seriously they make a fine burger as well as other New Orleans treats like po-boys.

We visited Liuzza's on 2 separate occasions while on vacation. The first time was amazing and the waitress was very nice. The second visit, the food was on point again but the waitress had an attitude from the start. But wouldn't let this stop me from visiting again. Bbq shrimp was like nothing I've ever had.

Just down the street from us this is a local institution. They aren't fancy but more than make up for it with the food they serve. Simple po boys and good Red Beans and rice are worth the trip if you are close.

My husband I have been visiting New Orleans for nine years and this has remained a favorite since year one. We were recently back in Nola with a couple that had gone with us the year before. Our friend requested going here for the "messy po'boy". I knew she meant the BBQ Shrimp Po'boy. It's so delicious that a year... More

They have a terrific seafood gumbo along with terrific Poboys. Home made fries not to be missed. Located a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip.
