Great Paella

We took a group of five for a weekday supper. This is a pleasant break from all the gumbo and seafood dishes in New Orleans. The atmosphere is cozy and very friendly. It is very convenient to City Park if you are visiting there. I recommend the seafood paella. Be sure to start with an appetizer... read more

Drug a group to Lola's after leaving the art museum (Pleasant walk down a tree lined street of beautiful New Orleans homes, same short walk back to the streetcar stop.) I was the only foodie in the group talked them into the seafood paella and no one had any complaints. The bread they serve with the meal is to die... More

It's a small place serving real paella and various garlicky Spanish dishes. Maybe the only authentic Spanish place in town, now that I think about it. Bring your own wine if you want, or get their refreshing sangria. Prepare to wait -- no reservations and not many tables - but it'll be worth it.

One of the most interesting things about the New Orleans restaurant scene is not the top-ten restaurants, but the next 300 that are nearly as good. A friend took me to Lola's on a recent trip to NOLA. We had great service (thanks Brenda!), wonderful wine, one of the best seafood paella's I had in years, and yummy crispy brussel... More

Everything was delicious! We had several small dishes (crab app, paella and brussels sprouts) and first to last bite we were in love! Outside of the French Quarter craziness and a good break from cajun fare although they have some of that too.) Do yourself a favor and go!

I love the local food in NOLA but we needed a change of palette. In the Treme district where we were staying, we walked around the neighborhood and found Lola's. It is a small place with white tablecloths, and an intimate environment. I missed greens so I ordered the arugula salad with blue cheese, candied pecans and strawberries. It had... More

Rarely have I been so disappointed. Good qualities of the restaurant are immaterial, because the paella was made without socarrat. A restaurant simply cannot bill itself as Spanish and serving paella and then make the paella this way. Terribly disappointed.

Lola's is a little family run restaurant. It is not a corporate place and they don't have a celebrity chef. So yes, there are times when the staff is overwhelmed, or they aren't open as usual. But if you give them a try you will find food cooked with care and attention. I think you will like it as much... More

Tried to dine here this past Monday but it was not open. Poor PR to change days closed without notice. Neighborhood restaurants who open on Lund Gras in this city have a profitable day. Too bad Lola's let a lot of patrons down.

The host and my server (Heather) greeted me warmly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived. It's a small restaurant so I waited outside, but only for a few minutes. The menu looked so good online that I strategically skipped breakfast, skimped on lunch, and arrived hungry for dinner. Heather helped me select wine - the albarino... More
