Like eating at a friend's house if your friend happens to be an amazing chef and has magically prepared all sorts of dishes at once. It's a nice date place or a good choice for where to bring out of town guests who want local, delicious, food- and don't want to dress up, spend a fortune, or go to the... more

A waiter friend in Lake Charles qued us in on this jewel. The gumbo with pickled okra was big league as was all the food. The value was great but the quality of the kitchen was even better. Hard to find, but worth it. Don /Maryland Hendrix Houston more

Was advised to go here from the owner of our small hotel. She said it was "great New Orleans local food". It's unpretentous, well priced, and SO worth the drive! Take the drive down Magazine Street for a day of intriguing shopping, end with this jewel and you will have had a great day outside of the French Quarter. WELL... more

I have not eaten here since before The Storm, but wanted to visit it one more time before I moved to Philly. What can you say about this place? I love it. It is pure New Orleans. The restaurant is small, not Lola small but small nonetheless. However, I am never in a rush when I visit D and J... more

This is the best restaurant I've ever been to in my life. Best food ever. Affordable. I miss it, now that I've moved but this used to be the place we would go for every occasion. This is truly my favorite. more

The entrance to this restaurant was very dark and quiet, but the dining room was surprisingly noisy. Our table was right next to the bar and there were people standing right over us as we ate until they were seated. That's the only negative thing I have to say about it. The food was excellent. My diver scallops were 4... more

My friend who lives in New Orleans took me to dinner at Dick and Jenny's. It is in an inconspicuous location with a warm decor inside. Our breadbasket had a vareity of gret breads. We shared the shrimp cheesecake for an appetizer which was delicious. I had the "Bronzed Louisiana Flounder -Crawfish Dynamite, Southern Greens & Garlic Mashed Potatoes" and... more

Dick and Jenny's exemplifies New Orleans at its best. It's a cozy hideaway in uptown that serves amazing, classic creole fare. The fried oysters are fantastic! My boyfriend had the redfish/gulffish and I had the duck.... c'est magnifique! more

I'd read terrific reviews of this restaurant on Epicurious.com and thought it was worth a try. My meal was satisfactory - grits and grillades. It was a flavorful and filling dish of grits with beautifully braised pork. It was delicious comfort food, which was just what I wanted! But the dessert was a disappointment - a tough and dry red... more
