Great lunch spot

Have dined here several times for lunch and always loved the food and service. It's definitely old school and something that is disappearing fast. Go and enjoy!

I had crawfish Etoufee and all I can say is Yum! My wife had the Red Fish and it was also very good. We topped it off with the Bread Pudding which was EXCELLENT ! A real keeper, but it is closed on weekends!

I enjoyed a pecan encrusted trout dinner here with the house drink. A nice selection of entrees and the atmosphere was intimate, tavern style.

Have been there three times in the past six months. I keep reading all the great write ups and keep going back hoping it will be good because it is close to work. Sadly I am giving up it just doesn't work. The prices are not competitive. The chairs are very uncomfortable. The services is sloppy and the food is... More

I have been eating here for over 20 years on my visits and have never had a bad meal. This trip was the same. Their bread pudding recipe is a New Orleans tradition served with butter pecan ice cream. The service is always New Orleans traditional with class. I took two new visitors with me on this trip and from... More

By far one of New Orleans' greatest restaurants. With old flare and charming servers, this is a must go to dinner spot. We started with fried crawfish & catfish courtesy of the owner, followed by turtle soup (warm/decadent) along with a Bon ton salad (great dressing). Our entrees were the famous Bon ton fish and the crabmeat au gratin, delicious... More

We went here to try some of the New Orleans Classics: jambalaya and gumbo. This place didn't disappoint! We went on MLK day for lunch, and the restaurant was lively but not full. The waitstaff was friendly and very accommodating. I'm sad to say we didn't try the bread pudding, but I overheard an older couple saying this was the... More

It was raining and this restaurant is across the street from the St. James hotel, where we are staying. Other's staying here remarked how good it was, so we thought, let's go. The place is small with brick walls. Right away we knew this was a good spot. The first waiter had worked there 17 years and said he was... More

I am a local and love to eat here; strongly suggest trying it if you are visiting. Great, traditional local foods. We love the crab and crawfish dishes.

The hotel recommended this restaurant. The service was excellent and so was the food. The red fish and Brussels sprouts with caramelized onions was very good. I had the bread pudding with whiskey sauce. No complaints about any of the food!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
