I have been going to the Bon Ton for the past 25 years. Nothing has changed. Not the building, the menu or the waitress', Get there early for lunch since it will fill up quickly. I recommend the gumbo.

My husband and I use to live in New Orleans. As we were walking around, we were talking about the Bon Ton Cafe and wondered if it was still around. When we turned the corner, there it was!! What a great surprise! We immediately stopped in for lunch. Fortunately the place hadn't changed - small but tall on style and... More

This place is in the CBD and not far from most of the hotels. We arrived on a Thursday evening about 6:15 and were promptly seated. They do take reservations. There were a few tables occupied; one was a group headed to the last pre-season game of the Saints. other tables had couples our for dinner. Since we were expecting... More

Our hotel recommeded this cafe and we loved it. We had the fish with crawfish on top and also the fish with lump crab on top. Although both were delicious, I prefer the one with crawfish, it was tastier. When we complemented the entrees we ordered, our wait staff told us that the fish dishes are really great because the... This is a small restaurant that has been in business for years. It is one large comfortable room with a warm atmosphere. It appeared that most of the diners were local. They were known by the staff. The food was very good and the bread pudding was excellent. Very attentive staff.

This restaurant is where the locals go instead of fighting lines at the regular tourist eating haunts. They have the best turtle soup in New Orleans that is seasoned to taste with sherry at the table. This restaurant is all substance and very little fluff. The service staff is friendly and attentive but don't expect anything flaming or delivered with... More

I had been to NOLA a dozen or so times over the past 25 years, and was just introduced by lawyer friends to the Bon Ton Cafe after a court hearing last week (the judge and his clerks were also lunching there). This is a quintessential NOLA dining establishment, not touristy, mostly inhabited by "uptown" locals. The crawfish jambalaya was... More

My family was visiting New Orleans and after reading the reviews wanted real New Orleans old cuisine. The service was excellent. The food fair. What a disappointment. I ordered the crawfish dinner . It was flat, flavorful less, and clearly not the same as everyone raves. A big disappointment compared to other Nola eateries. Family members were underwhelmed as well.

If you are looking for real New Orleans étouffée, this is your place. The shrimp and crawfish étouffée is full of buttery deliciousness. Make sure you have the hard sauce bread pudding because it is to die for. You will never have a better bread pudding! But don't go looking for vegetables because they are non existent. Our meal came... More

Older quaint place, very stuffy atmosphere. Not a place for kids. Excellent service. I had the gumbo and jambalaya appetizers. Both were very tasty and if I had a complaint it would be both dishes had too much shrimp. Also quite expensive.
