Excellent Mezes

Really high standard of Mezes available, all delicious. I recommend sharing the mixed appetiser, including flafel, hummus and baba ganoush. The halloumi cheese was excellent also. Hubby had the lamb plate with hummus, it was a great combination. Don't expect amazing surroundings but do expect... read more

There are several Mona's Cafes in NOLA. I've frequented this one on Magazine for the past year. I'm addicted to their Shawarma platter. The salad is delicious and so is there hummus. I've ordered take out a dozen times and never had a problem, however, the one time I chose to dine in their service was terrible. Not sure if... More

I was in New Orleans visiting a friend last June. Both he and I are foodies so I made him start planning, waaayyyyy in advance, all of the New Orleans restaurants we should go to...particularly ethnic restaurants (my hometown has VERY few imaginative restaurants) whole I was there. I was looking forward to trying as many new places as possible.... More

We were here for lunch with a bunch of friend and the service was so so. Our waitress clearly looked like she was high. We had a big order and she didn't even write it all down and when we asked her if she would be able to remember everything, her response was "Maybe" Food was at least decent.

Take a break from rich food to enjoy this authentic Middle Eastern fare. I had Dolmas and Tabouli both outstanding. This is a great place for a break while shopping on Magazine St.

Mona's Café This Light Middle Eastern Café as it describes itself is a Gem of a find. We called in because we saw the offer outside the building offering Lamb Shank, and being both English and home of the tastiest lamb you can buy plus longing for vegetables which should accompany this dish we entered. What a surprise when we... More

We just had the family there and it was great as always. We had the Mona's special swapping out the grape leaves for extra falafel. It is very good size and everything is excellent. We especially love their falafel. The beef shawarma and the gyro plate was extremely good as well. My only complaint is that there pita bread tends... More

We ate at Mona's on two separate visits to New Orleans and we were very pleased with our meals both times. The falafel and hummus are outstanding and are highly recommended. One of the visits we actually got take out and everything was still delicious when we finally made it back to our hotel.

My husband and I were looking for a good, inexpensive place to have lunch one rainy day. Well, we certainly lucked out when we stumbled upon Mona's. We shared the Lula kabob and chicken kabob, two wraps that were incredibly tasty and very filling--just what we wanted. The menu was varied and extremely reasonable. I would definitely go back again.

I go to Mona's on Banks Street often. This is my " I so don't want to cook" place. I always order the Mona's special. I adore everything that's included except for the stuffed grape leaves--they're sort of mushy. Whole foods has much better grape leaves. I also enjoy their gyros and shawrma. I find the prices to be quite... More
