Clean, Comfortable, & Tasty Food

The atmosphere is very laid-backed and unhurried. The menu has variety. Two in the group really enjoyed their gumbo. Two of us had a healthy serving of excellent fried oysters. The boudin was a great appetizer. A jazz group played in the early evening on one side of the bar. Tables were on the... read more

We ate here first night in New Orleans only a couple blocks from Lamothe House. The food was excellent and live music.

Music flows out nearly every eatery and bar along Frenchman St. We just happen upon the last one in a long line. A live band belts out notes loudly in the room you enter and where there is seating. Tables and food service are also in the next room over where we enjoyed the music and able to talk better.... More

We stayed in New Orleans for a week and wanted to try different restaurants. A friend suggested The Marigny Brasserie that had a varied menu and wouldn't break the bank. The first night we were there with a group of 6 (with several of our friends coming in from France). Our server, Will was both knowledgeable about the menu and... More

We were walking and stumble upon this restaurant. We went in because of the music but we ended up ordering food. The flavors of the food were very good but the rice was undercook and hard to eat. I wish they had put the rice on the side but instead it was on top of both of our plates. I... More

We were stuck in a crazy rainstorm and popped into this place by default. Our waitress was a charmer and had no problem telling us her favorite foods which was a big help! I tried the boudin balls and the seafood chowder and both were terrific. My husband had the red fish and really liked it. There was a jazz... More

During our walk down Frenchmen Street we noticed this restaurant and decided to give it a try. The food was good and the service great. They also have live music playing, which unfortunately was so loud (even though we were sitting in the back) that it was difficult to carry on a conversation. It is definitely worth a visit if... We went there twice during our stay in New Orleans. The blackened redfish was good, and the ribeye was huge, flavorful and tasty. Had the crabcakes the second visit and they were delicious, as well as the sweet potato fries. Music is great and the place was always hopping. Wait staff is very courteous and helpful and we loved it... More

This is a casual place that many locals and some tourists frequent. On one day, you may hear three or four different bands play jazz or rhythm and blues. The wait staff is excellent even when the place is busy, which is quite often during the four days we were staying on Frenchmen Street. (There are a few tables outside... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
