Wonderful food, charming room

I was in New Orleans for almost two weeks, and I think this was my best meal. I had a Pimm's Spritz cocktail, which was quite tasty but a bit spritzy for me (hey, I don't usually order cocktails, how was I to know?) With dinner, I had a glass of dry Riesling, very good. The wine list by the... read more

A little ride to a nice neighborhood place on Magazine Street but well worth it. In a charming high tin ceiling and columned corner stand alone old buiding. Recommended by a friend originally from the area who visits often. Off the tourist path. Some old French classics like tasty escargot, with excellent sourdough baguette, fresh market veggies and cheeses, and... More

I love eating at Lilette. The food is always creative yet with a Louisiana and Mediterranean type flare. Service is attentive. Location on Magazine Street makes it nice to be out of the downtown craziness.

We were guided to this fabulous small restaurant by the maitresse d' at another French bistro in a busier part of the Garden District - how lucky were we??? It was quite a walk and the district had become distinctly residential when we found the corner-sited establishment, but the added distance was worth it. Staff were welcoming and very knowledgable... Opened with a very good Manhattan and warm service. After that, it was all down hill. A sweetbreads appetizer was tiny and plain, achieving nothing but breading a few microbits of sweetbread with uninteresting accompaniment. My wife had a raw albacore appetizer, which was pretty much just that, plain raw fish. For her entree she had drum with cous-cous and... More

The menu is very different from the typical New Orleans restaurant and that is a good thing. The staff if very knowledgeable about the menu and how everything is prepared. Service impeccable and the food is perfect. We had 3 different fish dishes and all of them were perfect. My wife had the Black Garlic soap and it tasted a... More

A $15 taxi ride each way from the French Quarter requires that a restaurant stand above the famous ones in the Quarter and Lilette just misses. The service could not be any nicer. The interior is average, not very romantic or charming. Two dishes marred the evening. Spicy drum fish was not spicy and not well seasoned. The special dessert... More

Food gets a 5 - overall experience makes it a 3 - We made a reservation for 9, at 9:15 were still waiting for table, and basically got a "nothing I can do from the hostess". At 9:20, we were debating leaving or eating at the bar...when finally seated it was 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us at the table....but... More

Had a lovely dinner with 4 friends and the menu had something for everyone. I had the Crudo di Pesce which was very fresh and tasty. The escargot was served out of the shell on bruschetta - very good. They have a small private table, up a few steps, out of the main dining room. The table was perfect for... More

We went during lunch and the restaurant filled up quickly, I can see why! Excellent bloody mary (I am a self-proclaimed connoisseur), wonderful duck confit. Next time I go I will get the gnocchi carbonara; the table next to us had it and looked delicious. I ordered the veal meatball parmigiana and my husband had the fried flounder on brioche.... More
