We went to Mother's for breakfast based on the recommendation of a local resident. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly guy- I'll call him the "Overseer". As far as I could tell he was the only white employee - perhaps the owner or manager. I don't mention that as a negative in any way- but it combined with... More

Last time we were here was about 10 years ago. Back back to NOLA for a convention and ate lunch at mother's. The place hasn't changed and the food was good. Love their shrimp gumbo and the ham po boy. Consistent and a great place to visit for lunch.

This is a great place with great food. The atmosphere is great, you can see the history in this place. The food is absolutely great, and this will be one of the best meals you have ever had.

I heard great things about Mother's Restaurant so I made them a priority on my list of places to eat at. I went there for dinner and had the ham dinner. The ham was too salty, the red beans and rice had NO seasoning and the potato salad looked like mashed potatoes with relish and tasted worst. My daughter had... More

I visited New Orleans back in 2004 and this restaurant came highly recommended by a friend from the area. I remember the Po-Boy was good and the atmosphere interesting because of the age, history of the building and area it is located. During this recent trip, we were traveling back from Florida and the family members with us had never... More

We were told by some locals that they had heard bad reviews on Mother's restaurant, but we didn't listen. We waited in line and were led inside and told to stay close to the wall. The place was packed and busy. We looked at the food being served, but we had a hard time knowing what to order. We tried... More

Lunch was great. Lightly battered fresh shrimp, best turnip greens ever, Ferdi,s special ham and roast beef gravy poboy, and thick ham chunks with red beans and rice. Servers accept no tips even though service is excellent. Never an unfilled tea glass or added food items. Great is the WORD

One of The Best in NOLA. This is a top 3 spot to eat at in New Orleans! The place looks run down but don't let appearances fool you. When you arrive, you are given a menu and asked to place your order (similar to fast food service), then you sit and they bring you your food. I had the... More
