The host at the door was rude and not wecoming at all so we left. The food was probably very good because the people who were leaving were very satisfied but the gentleman at the door was not welcoming at all he had a very nasty attitude. We don't appreciate being being spoken to like children, no wecolme, no smile... More

I NEVER go to New Orleans without a stop at Mothers. It is so good, famous and worth the wait to get in that even the pilot of NCIS New Orleans had the team from Virginia Beach eat there. Pull up the website and grab a napkin, because just reading the menu will get your mouth watering... and the read... More

This place looks like a hole in the wall. It is a short walk from Canal close to Harrahs. You go in and you order at the register and then find a seat. I tried the gumbo and the ettoufee. The gumbo was fine and the ettoufee was really good. My friend got the roast beef and baked ham sandwich.... More

From the outside, Mother's looks like it might be a soup kitchen....Nothing but a small sign in an old building. Inside, the décor is also not much. When you step inside, you look over the menu (we had printed one from the web site so we had plenty of opportunity to think about our order), and get in line cafeteria style.... More

Went for breakfast or early lunch. Used to be great but not so much now. Don't wait in line for this place.

The place is an old line order be seated then they bring your food kind of place. Don't expect a great deal of formality or an elegant atmosphere. Do expect lots of great food. We had the shrimp and oyster po-boy and the Ferdi Special. The po-boy was easily enough for the most hungry person and was VERY tasty. The... More

This is an example of how a place, which may have been good at one time, can take a very steep dive into a dumpster once it gets discovered by the Food or Travel Channels. So, now there’s always a long line in front of it which leads people to think that this is a great place to eat. Well,... More

Mother's was recommended by as friend of mine whose previously recommendations about NOLA were all spot on. This one, I don't get. Standing in live for service, while food is getting served at tables around you is annoying. The visible food prep areas did not inspire confidence in their cleanliness. The prices were high for what you got. My shrimp... More

We were actually recommend to Mothers by a waiter at another restaurant. He said it was a favorite of his and now we know why. He told us there is always a line, and there was but it moved fast. I went next door (Mother's Next Door) and got a couple of bloody marys for us while we waited. You... More
