The cuisine at August is contemporary French with a focus on local ingredients, inspired by Chef John Besh's classical training here and in Europe, and by the depth of his own Southern Louisiana roots. August is located in an historic 19th century French-Creole building in New Orleans' Central Business District. August was a semifinalist for the 2012 and 2013 James Beard Awards Outstanding Restaurant, and has been selected by Gayot as a top 40 Restaurant in the United States. The Times Picayune has named it as one of their top 10 Restaurants the last two years in a row.

We left a little underwhelmed

We booked dinner reservations after being told for several people this was where they had the best meal of their lives. We were excited to visit. The restaurant is gorgeous. Beautiful setting. Superb service. The meal was good but not exactly memorable. We had the special (a fish dish... read more

Easily the top 3 meals I have ever had. Service was second to none. Our waitress(cannot remember her name) was awesome. Its hard to describe how awesome the food tasted. Simple dishes made so complex and flavorful. An absolute wonderful meal with my bride. Cannot wait to go back the next time I am in NOLA. Do not miss this... More

We had high hopes when we booked a table here, and were not let down one bit. Atmosphere is pretty and understated. Service was flawless (my husband and I both worked fine dining for years and these guys are good). Food was impeccable from starters to dessert. I would not have changed one thing. An amazing experience. Save room for... More

August is very good restaurant close to the Quarter House Resort, but frankly I do not like it nearly as much as Emeril's, K-Paul's, or Antoine's.

One of John Besh's best! We Enjoyed the preset lunch for A set price and was not disappointed at all. We received outstanding service and outstanding food. You definitely need a reservation. The best of Nola!!

Restaurant August very much lived up to lofty expectations. Even the limited menu is difficult to narrow down, but our captain suggested the gnocchi and the fois gras for starters and we were blown away. Main courses were soft shell crab and flounder - both were sublime. Our waiter suggested our desserts: dark chocolate parfait and banana pudding awesome. I'm... More

We had an excellent lunch here. The food was great and the service was outstanding. We visit NOLA often and this was our first time here, but it will not be our last!

We had a wonderful meal at August with our friends. The food was quite special with delicious flavours and lovely presentation. We felt extremely well looked after from the minute we entered. It is a lovely old building in a convenient location. We wanted a special meal for our last night in NOLA and that's what we got at August.

August is John Besh's flagship restaurant - and I love John Besh, so I'm disposed to like it. However, it's really perfect. The surroundings in a 19th-century building are rich and luxurious; the service is friendly, attentive, and completely professional; and the food is sublime. In our group, we had appetizers of gumbo, huitlacoche agnolotti (oh, my, rabbit and corn... More

Going to this restaurant was the best part of my trip to New Orleans. What an execellent experience overall! Of course the food was super delicious but our server is what made our experience exceptional. I wish that I could remember her name because I would love for her to be recognized.
