I have only had the opportunity to experience the Friday lunch. The fixed price menu at $20 is an unbelievable value and an incredible opportunity to experience this great restaurant. For this price you get a choice of 2 dishes for each of three courses, terrific service and the ambiance of a really beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend it.

By far, the best meal ever in this great city. We have visited this lovely city every year since 1994 & have had some good, some great meals but this was the best . Loved it. Service is phenomenal & please try the lighter than air gnocchi. Pricey but worth it. We have already made reservations for our next trip.

My wife and I were on vacation in New Orleans and, based upon a referral from a friend, dined at August. It is located in a grand old building with very high ceilings and large windows. The bar is made of great dark carved wood. The restaurant is small and intimate; good for special occasions. The wait staff is very... More

If you want a memorable, world-class dinner, August is the place. Everything is exquisite, and maybe it's the food euphoria talking, but it's always filled with beautiful people. August is definitely worth the splurge, and you should go at least once.

Service excellent. Atmosphere very elegant. Staff very attentive. Quality of food was just above average. I can think of at least 6 to 8 restaurants in New Orleans who's food really blows this place away. I was hesitant to make this review because I very rarely give just an average review, but I was a bit disappointed in the meal.

My wife and I dined at August in 2006--when Chef John Besh had just competed on Iron Chef--and had one of the most ethereal dining experiences we'd ever had. Beats us why he didn't win--some suspect his heart wasn't in the responsibilities he'd have had away from his restaurants if he'd won. Whatever the reason, it was to the benefit... More

I sat at the bar to try the Degustation Menu here during a 12-day gastro-vacation to New Orleans. First of all, the Hilton chain hotels were offering "Taste of New Orleans" room rates which would get you 20% off the bill at any John Besh restaurant in the city (except the one at the casino). If you are planning on... More

I've eaten at a lot of really good restaurants in my life, but this was easily one of the top five best. The flavor of every dish was simply perfect, and the service was attentive and kind. The menu changes frequently but I had (and highly recommend) the beet, crab, and quail egg salad to start. For my dish I... More

We came to August on a recommendation from a friend, and were wowed by the combination of elegance and friendliness of the place. We ordered the degustation menu with the sommelier's wine pairings and enjoyed the experience of a 5 course meal with individually paired wines. I'm not sure if we'd do that again, mostly for the expense, but it... More
