A citadel of New Orleans haute cuisine

August has lovely, well-prepared food served in a comfortable, very attractive setting by professional staff. It certainly is among the very best formal restaurants in New Orleans and is a very special occasion place.

5 of us enjoyed an incredible birthday dinner at this gorgeous restaurant. As we are all from NYC we are used to fine dining at its best. This restaurant hit every note from the amuse bouche to the cheese course. The service was attentive and not at all intrusive. The atmosphere is gorgeous classic new Orleans. What a treat! Truly... Chef John Besh's signature restaurant features high-ceiling rooms, attentive service and a flair for elegant presentation of locally sourced seafood and vegetables. Chef Besh is also renowned for his selfless service, at his own expense, of serving thousands of meals to first-responders 10 years ago in the aftermath of Katrina.

This was on my must-do list for my trip. I've only heard good things about Restaurant August and it absolutely lived up to it's reputation. Evening started with a perfect Knob Creek mint julep. After perusing the menu, I was not sure if I wanted to do the Degustation tasting menu or chose a la carte. My absolutely wonderful waiter... More

We went here for lunch for my husband's birthday. It was the best meal I have ever had in New Orleans. Everything was outstanding. Understand the bill was also outstanding. We are finally going back in December with no friends or family and may make a special evening here. Absolutely wonderful!

Everything was outstanding. The salads, the gnocchi, the entrees - everything! 2 of us had the steak and the whole presentation was absolutely world class. My wife's duck was so tender I thought it was a veal chop at first. But no, it was just duck cooked that perfectly! Service was good not great but nothing that would make us... More

Amazing food service and presentation! Great place for a romantic dinner. Waitstaff was very well schooled but not stuffy. They took the time to discuss the food. Very nice wine selection also. Pricey but well worth it.

August was my splurge experience while in New Orleans. The venue and the service was impeccable. I made an advance reservation and they even called to confirm if I had any food allergies. For all that, I found that my salad, pompano and sorbet, although very good, were not as good in my opinion as equivalent meals I had at... More

Where to start. The service was excellent our main server really knew the food well. The gnocchi appetizer was really good. My counter part had the flounder and was it was excellent. The wagu hanger steak was excellent so tender you could cut with a fork and took you a trip to flavor town it was a omg moment. We... More

As a disclaimer I like to start out by saying that my husband and I travel around food. We are Michelin Star Fanatics, Hardcore Foodies, who typically settle for nothing short of the best. We were in New Orleans for four days his past weekend, from August 14th through the 17th, and we ate at some of the best rated... More
