Dined at Rio Ma during a business trip to New Orleans. We had a large group, but still managed to have excellent service. Each course was delicious, but the Dulce de Leche Flan was amazing. The flavor was rich and smooth. Hope to have an opportunity to indulge again.

This was a really disappointing place. My wife and I would have forgiven the poor decor and uninterested attention if the food had been good. However, the ceviche was completely forgettable and didn't feel terribly fresh. Our main entree (we shared), a rice on black squid ink, was tasteless. Yes, tasteless. When we told the waiter about it he didn't... More

From beginning to end, the meal was outstanding. I had this crab appetizer, with all these little crab claws around it, all de-shelled beautifully- excellent., Then I had the Swordfish chef's special- great! Tres Leches for dessert- yummy, and a bottle of wine

I had an early dinner. The music was quite loud, for no good reason that I could tell. Perhaps to make up for the lack of loud conversation? The grilled octopus with potatoes was interesting, though there was something off about the oil used. I think it may have just been a note I didn't care for, not stale or... More

We went to Rio Mar for dinner this past weekend during Jazzfest. The floors are cement; the walls brick and glass; ceiling low and it is LOUD. We had to yell to speak to each other which everyone else had to do so as a result there was a dining room full of loud people. The food was okay although... More

My wife and I went to New Orleans with several other couples. One of those couples was a cousin to the chef/owner of this restaurant and frankly we felt an obligation to go. When there, I was blown away by the service and the quality of the food. I could have made a meal out of the appetizers alone as... More

Super tapas, very authentically Spanish, with some nice Latin American touches- the best ceviche outside Latin America. And the flan, from the owner's Panamanian wife's recipe is absolutely lush. Knowledgable and friendy service, lively decor. And really, the ceviche is top knotch! Reasonable prices, too.

I can only eat so many fried seafood poboys before I am ready for something different. Rio Mar satisfies my craving for fresh, light cuisine perfectly. The tapas lunch is an unbelievable value, but the dinner prices are still very palatable. I would definitely recommend trying the caribe ceviche and grilled octopus. For dinner, the hanger steak is delicious. Try... More
