My favorite

Everything is good.. Really good... But the mussels and fries are my go to meal every time. The lamb chops are also good. Save room for dessert crepes. They now take reservations. The staff makes the whole experience a night to remember.

A good dinner experience is a whole process that stars with the welcome, the table installation the food the service and the price associated to all of those. Here, we started very badly, although we have had a confirmed reservation, we had to wait almost 1 hour to be seated, looking all other waiting guests be placed in the meantime.... More

On our last night in New Orleans we decided to go to a French Restaurant uptown close to our hotel. This one was recommended. Our mixed drinks were excellent, and my wife had onion soup which she loved and I had escargot which was classically prepared and very tasty. The special was a grilled red snapper, and it was about... More

Was not expecting much, to be honest. But everything was wonderful--Parisian atmosphere inside, mussels and snails cooked to perfection, a delicious smoked salmon crepe and a huge dessert. Service attentive and the meal was well-paced, not rushed.

This was recommended to us by another restaurant owner when they were booked. I'm really glad they sent me here. This place has been open 31 years. The dining was fine and the food was wonderful. I had the shrimp in lobster cream sauce and the wife had the scallops. We would eat here again.

I love Crepe Nanou and everything about it. It's a great, hidden gem with a great atmosphere, great staff and fantastic food- it's like comfort food to me now. Be sure to get the cheese fondue with fruit- a hot le cauldron of gooey goodness. The fries and bearnaise sauce are also favorites. I rarely order the crepes, as there... More

Went with hubby and brother on a Monday night and place was full of diners. A really cute, romantic French bistro. We used to come here when dating in NOLA back in the 80's and food still good. Had escargot in garlic butter for only $10.00 and was very good. Hubby and brother had French onion soup for $7.00 each... More

Very good atmosphere and service, a good and inexpensive Manhattan, outstanding mussels, tasty crab crepe were all tainted by a heavy and dull sweetbreads entree. The preparation was utterly unimaginative and bland, and overcooked as well. Eating it was like trudging through the mud. I was going to have the sweetbreads as an appetizer, but my wife wanted the large... More

My wife and I went for an early dinner with another couple. They take no reservations, so come early or late. The place has a good vibe, gets busy early, then gets a little loud. The waitstaff is efficient and friendly. We had a reasonably price white bordeaux. I appreciate a wine list with reasonable wines. It went well with... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
