We had experienced nearly every Creole restaurant and wanted something authentically French. Café Degas did not disappoint! We started with the cheese plate. My husband ordered the veal and was so tender and amazing. Great portion size! I ordered the escargot with grits and a lump crab over arugula salad. Both hit the spot! I was expecting only five escargot... More

We had dinner at Degas last night, probably our 8th or 9th visit. We went expecting it to be more than good...they exceeded our high expectations. The crawfish ravioli was absolutely amazing. We also had rack of lamb and soft shell crab, all beyond delicious. All in all it was a perfect bday dinner. Gustavo was perfect, allowing us to... More

A romantic dinner was in store for my wife and this was the first place that came to mind. Great food is an understatement. Try a Pimm's Cup.

After many five star meals at Café Degas, two recent visits have resulted in a less than stellar memories. The hangar steak was chewy and almost not presentable and the quail was dry and tasteless. Both dishes had been superb on previous visits, but after two off-nights, I fear a trend may be developing. We love this place and the... More

I have probably eaten at Degas over 100 times in the past ten years I've lived in the neighborhood. I can count on one hand the times I've been tepid about my food. These guys know how to deliver consistently well prepared food. Today, I had the halibut with toasted orzo. I left only the smallest morsel on my plate... More

This restaurant, located on Esplanade Avenue near the museum in Bayou St John, is a treasure. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is lovely, and prices are reasonable. While service can be slow when it's busy, if you get Gustavo as your waiter, his warmth, charm and courteousness easily make up for delays. Regular favorites on the menu include... More

Have had lunch here on many occasions, this was our first dinner experience. Love the menu, will eventually over many more visits eat through each dish! The place was packed,so space between tables was an issue, but the crowded space only added to the ambience & feel of this charming venue. We had a table for three....I shared the Moules(P.E.I.mussels), the... More

This is a wonderful restaurant in the area near City Park. Serving excellent food and traditional french dishes this restaurant is a favorite to take visitors or just dine out with my wife. The service is good and dishes like escargot and a cheese and fruit plate add to the traditional french dishes to make any dining here memorable. Reservations... More
