Just ate dinner at Cafe Degas with some friends and we all had an outstanding meal. I had the French boudin with sautéed cabbage to start and my wife had the French onion soup. The boudin resembled a blood sausage and not the typical Louisiana boudin but was very good. The soup was very tasty. I the enjoyed the hanger... More

I have given a three star rating instead of my usual five for this, one of my favorite New Orleans restaurants (see previous reviews). The food, as usual, was excellent but we arrived at 2.55pm and met by the hostess. She had an unwelcoming look on her face and we thought they were closed, even though their website said they... I'm a fan of this lovely French spot nestled under the oaks of Esplanade Ave in the heart of mid city. I don't think it has the best food in New Orleans but the semi outdoor atmosphere and the good food, warm service and consistency makes it a favorite spot of mine to dine in that area.

We arrived for brunch without reservations, forgetting it was Father's Day. The hostess was kind enough to get us an extra stool so we could all eat at the bar. Not 5 minutes later she came and said she had put a table together for the 4 of us. Everything on the menu sounded appetizing. Bloody Mary's were excellent. My... More

This is a sweet little restaurant in many ways. We started with basket of great baguette slices. My husband had a soft shelled crab salad, which he enjoyed. I ordered a salad Nicoise off of the regular menu. I was a little startled that my egg was VERY overcooked and was sporting a green/gray ring around the yolk. My small... More

We went to Café Degas with some friends who loved the place. When we first arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. It's a eclectic converted home restaurant with style and charm. The quality of the food was excellent and reasonable. It's just a short cab ride from the French Quarter but well worth the effort.

Although the restaurant is a bit crowded, it is worth the tight squeeze to eat there. The dinner Saturday night was excellent. Although I did not think the vichysoisse was fabulous as it had a yellow color and a somewhat unusual flavor, it was good. Two of our friends had the onion soup and it look great with lots of... On our recent trip to New Orleans, Shannon, our chef and hostess at the Terrell House B & B recommended we check out Cafe Degas on Esplanade Avenue for lunch after our visit to the Sculpture Garden in City Park. Turned out to be a wonderful suggestion as we were treated to a delicious, savory and flavorful lunch in a... More

We stopped in the Cajun district of NOLA for lunch at Cafe Degas which is not far from the house that Degas stayed in New orleans. We had soup (vichysoisse) and a crawfish quiche special. Everything was very tasty. Nice open dining area. Friendly and good quality food.

Went to Cage Degas on the recommendation of our host. What a fantastic meal. The foie was amazing, main dishes were good, and the raspberry cake was a great way to finish the meal. Local, quiet and cozy!
