Good steak

A very nice cafe. The steak was good but had one just as good for a little over half the price in the French Quarter. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable and they have a nice selection of wine. Overall a good place to relax, eat and have a glass of wine

Just off City Park and the Fair Grounds (think Jazz Fest), this French Bistro is not to be missed on a visit to New Orleans. The Prince Edward Isle Mussels in white wine is superb with its broth made for dipping. The onion soup with melted Swiss is a forever favorite. The crab salad is outstanding, "Jumbo lump crabmeat, shaved... More

This restaurant is extremely small. Waiters/waitresses have trouble navigating between the tables. (The restrooms seem smaller than cruise ship facilities.) However, if you would dine at an off time, the lack of space would probably not be an issue. The hostess was not particularly friendly or glad to see us - we did have a reservation and we were on... We went to this place because it was recommended by a friend in addition to trip advisor. The French onion soup is incredible, the best I've ever had. I ate a dish recommended by the waiter and it was delicious, overall I would recommend this place. Just make a reservation, it's very small.

My husband & I had a great dinner. He had mussels- he says they're the best he's ever had. I had the goat cheese salad with hangar steak. It was also excellent. We both had the French onion soup. Oh my! You get delicious cheese in every bite. And the dark chocolate decadence dessert was to die for!

My husband and I had an great Brunch experience at Cafe Degas..Totally didn't know what to expect. Business dinner with total of 5 in our party. Service was good but slow. Needed to make suggestions for extra bread, or to offer refills. We all were in attendance at a 4 day conference- best food all week. Guests ordered the 3 course Reville option for $49 per person. They had a crab appetizer, lamb and a choice of... More

My most recent trip to Cafe Degas was only to the bar but it was just as amazing as always. My DC and I shared a bottle of CdP and about 5 different appetizers that were all amazing, especially the special escargot and the wild mushroom soup. We love the entrees but didn't even miss them this visit because everything... More

Was in neighborhood to visit friends. Cafe Degas was recommended by neighboring friends. The food was excellent but service was poor to say the least! As never visiting France i was not sure of selections. Server really wasn't much help. Felt like he really didn't want to be there or didn't care for us at all. The final straw was... More

Last August, as we were traveling across Louisiana, it was my pleasure to take my wife to New Orleans and guide her to some of the places I particularly treasure. I can tell you that the city has many little “holes in the wall” offering gastronomic meals one could find in France (my country of origin). Being in New Orleans,... More
