Old Fashioned Fun

Friends of mine suggested we eat here on our recent trip to New Orleans, and we were glad we did. It is located in the Garden District at the last stop on the Green Line Trolly (only $1.25 each way, or $3.00 for an unlimited day pass). There was a line out the door, which we had expected, and... read more

After reading reviews. ..I had much higher expectations. ... I asked if gumbo had okra I was told no..when it came it was polluted with it. Silver ware was dirty.. fries were very greasy like the fry oil was old..then as I tried to pay the bill...the cashier disappeared for 10 min. If you want to go...please expect waffle house... More

Okay, here's the thing about Camelia Grill; it's a grill, not a five-star restaurant. But, it's a five-star grill! Why? Because they do what they do and they do it well. We were lucky and came on a chilly, damp morning. That, apparently, was enough to keep folks away. We waited for about 30 minutes all told, from entry to... More

LEON our server took us back to how a dinner should be...Very personal and intimate...its how a dinner should be. Leon engaged a lot with us and the other patrons and made sure we were satisfied. .even gave us stories about the restaurant and the history of the food. Service was great and food was all the way fresh ...EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

We stopped here for a quick lunch after a trip to City Park. It was later in the afternoon so we didn't have to wait long for a seat. They seem to have mastered the art of moving people in and out quickly. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. My husband said their muffaletta was the best he had... More

last time I was in this restaurant was about 20 years ago! when I was living in new orleans, I used to be a regular, it went through the devastation of Katrina, and it opened up again a few years back, upon entering all kinds of memories came back, I sat on the counter as all seating is on the... Camellia Grill is one of those unique eating places that draws a crowd. The food is above average but the means of waiting for one of the counter seats (all seats are at the counter) is what is unique. You wait outside until you are waved in where you end up waiting at one of the benches along the wall.... More

Grabbed dinner to go our first night in town based off of other reviews. Food was alright, maybe should try the breakfast. Prices were in line with the quality of the food. If you need pretty good diner food at a decent price CG has your hookup. Staff were some nice folks!

Rode the St. Charles streetcar down to Camella Grill for breakfast. Old school diner seating, had to wait for seats but well worth the wait! Ham omelet along with breakfast fries cooked to perfection, sourdough toast, and hot coffee - can't be beat. Leon was our server and provided excellent service, along with pleasant conversation.

This was our first time to Camellia Grill and certainly won't be our last. We left the French Quarter about 8:45 Saturday morning on the St. Charles Street Car. 30 or so minutes later we arrived at The Camellia Grill. The line was out the door, but we didn't realize there was no room for a line inside. We actually... More
