My daughter (a recent college graduate and gainfully employed) treated us to dinner at Brightsen's. The restaurant is located in an old house about 5 miles from the French Quarter. It was well worth the taxi ride and the the ride back on the street car was fun. Food was excellent (I had the flounder with crab) and plentiful. Get... More

This restaurant is situated in a home in a neighborhood close to the Mississippi Levee on the south side of town. There appeared to be 4 rooms for dining. We were there for dinner, arriving about 6:15 PM. By 7:00 PM the place was packed. My wife had sheepshead and I had the rabbit which was lightly breaded and sauteed.... More

Brigtsen's is one our favorite restaurants in New Orleans and we love to bring guests here to taste the wonderfully prepared food. Frank Brigtsen stopped by our table and our guests gushed at how delicious his meal was prepared. Every dish Frank prepares is outstanding.

My wife and I selected Brigtsen's for her birthday dinner. The service was good, but right away I had an uneasy feeling when the waitress, who could impressively recite every detail of the menu, was unable to answer a simple question: what is your personal favorite? For appetizers, my wife selected the barbecued shrimp, while I opted for the File... More

Recommended by waitstaff at similar restaurant known for food and art collection. Really only thing that was memorable was the pecan pie with caramel sauce. It was the best I have ever had..the seafood platter had highs and lows; fish over cooked for me but others ok. Seafood platter...ok. The LaRuth oysters were good. Wine list- ho hum. Service good.... This restaurant confirms that New Orleans is possibly the best city to dine in North America. The food was absolutely fantastic. The service second to none and ambiance superb. The restaurant is situated in an old home situated at the end of the green St.Charles tram line. Our reservations were honored to the minute.. If you should visit a hint, the... More

We recently enjoyed dinner on a Saturday. Prompt, professional service without being over the top in a warm intimate environment. Food very well prepared and fairly priced for quality and quantity. Highly recommended.
