There is no more welcoming host anywhere. We love Brigtsen's and never go to New Orleans without stopping for a nice, slow, relaxed evening in one of the Crescent City's most exotic eateries. The best appetizer in America might be the Des Allemands catfish with that incredible stone-ground jalapeno tartar sauce, that is, unless you love shrimp more. If so,... More

This restaurant is in a house with multiple rooms. Wait staff share duties so there is none of the 'I'll get your server' junk, they're all attentive to all tables. Food was good but my dish was slightly over salted. Good sazerac & desserts! Chef came out & visited with neighboring table.

Once you have tired of the French Quarter it is worth venturing out to sample food in other quarters of New Orleans. Brigtsen's fits the bill. It is a great place featuring classic New Orleans fare served in an old home in a quiet neighborhood. The atmosphere, decor and service and the abundance of local diners lets you know you... More

It is such a treat to find a restaurant where the owner is the actual chef, as well. I first encountered the chef at a food demonstration at the Jazz Festival last year. That did it. We had to go. Everything was delicious. I revealed to the hostess that I had watched the chef's presentation earlier that day, and was... More

If you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter for an excellent and relaxed dinner, this is the place for you. The food is outstanding.

Actually, being out of the tourist area may be a plus. This cute little restaurant is worth a visit, It seems like a family operation--but a real gourmet family. Several of us had the seafood sampler, and it was out of sight! As others have said, save room for the pecan pie. Pecan pie is one of my favorite desserts,... More

I visited this restaurant after it was recommended by a chef in Los Angeles, and when I suggested it to my friend in New Orleans he said it was one of his favorites as well. Our group grew from 3 to 9 but they still accommodated us. Everyone raved about the food and the service was excellent. The seafood sampler... More

This is not a cheap place for dinner. Plan to spend 125-150 for two. That being said. ..I will be more expecting. The duck I had was dry and over cooked...the lamb my wife had was tough and chewy.it was either a bad shank or not cooked low and slow . The rice was perfect. The veggies good. And I... More

Save room for the pecan pie!!! The sauces are unbelievable... anything you order is fabulous. A bit of a drive, but you are eating with the locals which is a nice change.
