As I read through existing reviews of Commanders Palace, it seems that the chief complaint from its detractors is in reference to the dress code. People who cannot handle one night of smart casual elegance probably just shouldn't bother reserving at this type of restaurant in the first place. Stick to Bourbon Street and let the rest of us enjoy... More

I had heard a lot about this restaurant and was looking forward to eating there. I honestly just felt it was ok. The appetizers were excellent and the wine list was extensive. The waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating. Very professional in the way we were handled. The ambience to me was tired but I am sure it is very... More

We had a great dinner there. The service was fantastic. The bone marrow appetizer was very good, although the osso bucco was only average. The deserts, however, were off the charts. We had bananas foster and bread pudding soufflé with whiskey cream sauce. Maybe the best desert I've ever had.

We flew in from Atlanta to celebrate my 45th bday. Friday night dinner and Sunday jazz brunch filled us with the most delicious memories. Each dish was better than the next- garlic bread, soup trio, tomato salad with melon, drum fish in cream sauce were a few of the most amazing highlights at dinner. There were balloons at our table... Commanders is simply an American treasure, a family business that embodies classic New Orleans cuisine while embracing new trends. Too many NOLA legacy restaurants are monuments to what was, serving primarily the typical classics. CP is a fine balance of the old and the new. I'm not a turtle soup fan so I lean towards the oysters with pork belly,... More

Speechless. Food. Drinks. Atmosphere. Don't know where to begin or end. Just go. It will be a life long memory. Brunch just as good as dinner. (maybe they still have 25 cent martini's for brunch?)

We went for the Jazz Brunch and it was a true New Orleans experience. The Jazz trio came table to table accepting requests, the atmosphere was amazing. Great variety on the menu, from French toast to Turtle soup. Overall a great meal and great environment.

My family and I visited Commander's Palace on a recent trip to NOLA. We made lunch reservations through their website. Though it doesn't look that fancy from the outside (actually almost garish with the bold blue and white awning), the inside of the restaurant is finely decorated and very suitable for special occasions. There is definitely a certain dress code,... More

We had made our reservations a few months ago for brunch at noon in the garden room. It was a very warm late June day and we were dressed up nicely (dresses). Everyone I saw was dressed up as well which made it feel like a special occasion. We took a taxi from our hotel with plans to take the... More

If you are a food lover, you must visit this venerable old place once. And there's no question the food and service are outstanding. However, once is enough for me -- brunch was fine, but excessively long (2 hours for three courses). Food was lovely, but at some point, we were ready to move on -- and service was a... More
