Bottom line, we waited a hour and a half to be seated on a Tuesday, November 17. The head waiter said the wait would be 45 minutes. We asked again at 50 minutes. We were told a little while longer. One could expect experienced staff to be able to more accurately estimate the wait. The food was great but no... more

I had some trepidation in returning to Irene's due to a few of the comments posted here. I hadn't been there since before Hurrican Katrina. I was thrilled to find that the food was even better than I had remembered. I had the paneed oyster appitizer, the fried soft shell carb on a bed spaghetti with a creamy crawdad sauce,... more

We read about Irene's through a tour-book, and knew it was going to be a must-stop on our vacation. The book stated to be prepared for a 90 minute wait, so we planned on arriving right as they opened, at 5:30. Even at opening, there were people waiting to get in! The menu is innovative, heavy on the fish/seafood side,... more

Unfortunately, we believed the review from our guide book and took a trip to Irenes for dinner. Lack of a table reservation system resulted in absolute chaos - arrived at 7.50pm, asked to come back for 9pm, not seated at table until 10pm but out by 11pm! The place is caught in a time-warp - Irene appears to be very... more

Years ago, this place had great food. Now it's akin to eating at Olive Garden. You can't rest on your laurels (from the early 90's) , you need to maintain quality and make an effort to improve. Salads are wilted with bits of rotten lettuce in them. Sauces are oily and broken. Pasta is overcooked and salty. Meat is either... more

The food is very good but not exceptional. The prices arent outta line for semiformal french quarter fare but I didnt like the place. The tables and chairs are built for miniture people. Im below avg size and I felt cramped. The waitstaff was cordial but not attentive. They never checked to see if an entree was to anyones liking and... more

The Garlic points and Escargot appetizer is supreme. They have a different waitstaff system, where every server helps at every table. But it works for them. And they all seem to be knowledge about what you ordered, right from the person that delivers your drink to the person that clears your table. The cocktails are mixed by a master bartender.... more

We always dine at Irene's when in New Orleans ... usually a couple of times. They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait for about an hour at least. If you go early when they open, you won't have to wait. They do have an indoor area where you can have drinks, listen to the jazz piano while you... more

This is a fantastic place for a romantic dinner. Everything that we ordered just simply melted in our mouths. From the steaks to the bread. The service was also very friendly and helpful. It was superb. It is a "must do". more

The escargot was, I think, the most delicious thing I've ever eaten in my life. The whole meal was fantastic from beginning to end. Stellar, attentive service. Food was mind-blowing. Lovely, non-pretentious atmosphere. And reasonable to boot! Run, do not walk, to this restaurant. I can't say enough great things. Absolutely made my husband's birthday- a highlight of our whole... more
