This is one of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans. We go back year after year. The food is craveable! I think about it when I'm not there. The decor is kitschy and very New Orleans. The alligator cheesecake is sooo good. Go early and have a drink there or at the bar next door. They do not take reservations... More

We were a party of seven and had the smarts to make a reservation. We had tried to get in on our visit last year and were unable to. The atmosphere is funky cool. We were seated in the building right next door to the main restaurant, which seemed to be where all the larger parties were seated, so it... More

Had a great experience on our first night in New Orleans - took a bit of a lengthy streetcar up to Oak St, and we were instantly seated (they take reservations for 5+). Philip made our night - recommending some awesome dishes: alligator cheesecake, fried grits, fried chicken, fried rabbit...do you see a pattern here? Great service, great food!

After three independent recommendations to eat a Jacques Imo's, the four of us made the trek on the trolley car to discover this out-of-the-way, local cafe. We had the good fortune of having Philip as our waiter, who treated us incredibly well and recommended the Shrimp and Alligator Sausage Cheesecake appetizer (a must have!) followed by Eggplant Pirogue with sides... This is the reason you come to New Orleans. Great food, at a great price, in a great atmosphere. Don't leave without the alligator cheesecake! You'll regret it! Every visit to New Orleans...I always go to Jacques Imo's!

Some friends recommended this restaurant. A little out of the way but worth the cab ride. I see why this restaurant is listed so high on Trip Advisor. Quirky place with great drinks, great service and GREAT FOOD. The Blackened Red Snapper and the Fried Chicken are understandably menu favorites. Both were wonderful. Don't leave without trying the Crème Brule... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
