Great modern take on an NOLA tradition

Killer Po Boys lived up to their reputation. Hidden behind a dive bar are some very innovative sandwiches. Our party tried three - the sweet potato, shrimp and pork belly and sat on a bench overlooking the muddy Mississippi and feasted. We were very happy.

Took my sober parents here on the recommendation of a friend. We'd already been in to the bar the night before (no food on Tuesday's...wahhh!) for a cocktail. Great dive bar atmosphere! Any way, mom and pops loved the divey vibe and mom said it was the best grilled cheese she's had in 66 years! Chewy, crispy, grainy bread and... More

Just after getting off at the hotel from a sketchy taxi driver, I was in a meh mood. The meatloaf po boy in this hole in the wall shop at the back of a bar was an instant mood lifter! It was such an interesting mix of flavors and so rich in flavor. It was messy, but great. It was... More

So we didn't end up getting a Killer Poboy, but after reading all the reviews, I wanted to stop in for the frozen Irish coffee. The first night of our trip, we'd eaten dinner right next to another bar, Molly's, and popped in to get a drink. We ended up getting a frozen Irish coffees which were really good (they... More

There's a little gem in the back of the Erin Rose Bar and that is Killer Poboys. We stopped in on a rainy Friday, our first night in New Orleans. The tiny space does get crowded really quickly, but the serivce is really quick. I had a meatloaf poboy that was out of this world. For $14 it's a little... More

The sandwich was good, but not $14 good (coming with nothing but napkins). The 4 choices when we went were Sweet potato, very fatty pork belly, shrimp & one I don't recall. We went with the shrimp which had an Asian riff, daikon radish & such. It surely tasted good but wasn't all that. Have to say I expected more-... More

Killer indeed. Three of us went. We ordered 3 different po-boys and they were nice enough to cut each into three parts so we could all have a section of each. We had the shrimp, the pork belly and the meatloaf. I think it speaks to the genius of the place that each of us had a different favorite. So... More

I was directed here by a local friend. Even with his directions it took me a bit to figure out that it is located inside and in the back of Erin Rose. Erin Rose is a bar that is filled with regulars and dregulars and the short walk to the back might discourage the typical tourist. by design? At any... More

Half the fun of this place is trekking through Erin Rose dive bar, which is also where you will order your drinks. The restaurant itself is little more than a small room with a window to the kitchen. They only offer a few varieties per day, but they are very good. I really like the different varieties they have from... More

We almost didn't find it because it's in the back of the bar. Once we got in there, we knew we were in for a treat. The menu is simple with 5 items and the line was long. We ordered the pork belly and their special braised beef. The pork belly was sweet and sultry; the beef was savory and... More
