With a big convention coming into town, it seemed like both trips to the restaurant found us interacting with brand new waiters, still in training. When the orders came out wrong, they did get them corrected but the pace was a bit slow and frustrated. They were all however, very polite and apologetic as they remedies the issues.

The only down side is that I ate too much spicy food too late at night which did cause me some indigestion! The food was excellent however.

We noticed the Monteleone hotel and Carousel bar on Royal as we were walking in the French Quarter. It was in a nice area with a large fun crowd gathered at the bar chatting and listening to music. We popped in for drinks and found it so charming that we stayed for an excellent dinner at the Criollo restaurant. The... More

My husband and I went to Criollo as 2 of a group of 24 the day after a friend's wedding and were extremely impressed with all aspects of our dining experience. We arrived before the rest of our party and walked up to the hostess, Darrielle to inquire about their vegetarian options. Darrielle was very friendly and warm and had... More

I thought this restaurant was very average, particularly given some of the outstanding meals we have had over the years in New Orleans. Soft shell crab special and quail appetizer were just okay. Service was very good.

Every time I go New Orleans I stay at the Hotel Monteleone. Their restaurant is called Criollo. I ate breakfast twice at Criollo during my recent visit. They have a regular menu, and then they have featured breakfasts for every day of the week. On Saturday I had poached eggs over crawfish risotto on an English muffin with hollandaise sauce,... More

The room is beautiful and the service ok, but the food was very uninspired. I had a swordfish, which was dry and overcooked and served on a tasteless risotto. My companions had similar experiences. Not recommended.

Food was good; only had breakfast here (twice). Pricey and had to ask for bread. Room was charged for an expensive breakfast on a 3rd day when I didn't eat here, but hotel removed the charge.

My wife and I recently ate here for the first time. We frequent New Orleans often but had never eaten here. We both started with the turtle soup - Although not a traditional roux based soup (it was tomato based and spicy) it was very good. I had the duck and my wife had the lamb. Both were good portions...
