YUMMY Salsa

Excellent salsa, I ordered a shrimp salad that was very delicious. The chicken wontons are really good. Excellent service overall good experience.

We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids. It had been raining before we got there on a Monday night so we were able to get seated right away. Ordered margaritas and they were great - saw some drink specials for later in the week that sounded good too. Ordered the shrimp and chorizo cheesecake appetizer. It sounds... More

We went here with friends who happen to love the place so we were excited to try it. We got the pork nachos and those were pretty bland and just not very good. We also tried the steak and shrimp fajitas for dinner and were not impressed. Our service was not very good either. Overall it looks really pretty but... More

Well, there was a 30 min wait so we decided to stay, we figured it was crowded for a reason. The salsa that comes with the chips is horrible, spicy with no flavor. We tried the Trio Dip, it was just 3 different dips and you had to use the complimentary chips to enjoy it. Do not get the dip,... More

This place is edgier and more fun than your typical Mexican restaurant. The walls are covered with local artwork, all for sale. The menu also offers more refined versions of Mexican classics. The salsa they serve with the chips is hot and has a smoky umptious flavor. Although the guac isn't made fresh, it also still has good flavor. I... More

I have eaten here twice on two separate trips to NOLA. Being from Houston I am accustomed to excellent Mexican food. With that said, I can say that by my standards this is average Mexican food and a tad overpriced. The salsa is very good but beyond that, I do not think I would return. I would probably look to... We were extremely pleased with our first dining experience at the Velvet Cactus. The first note of satisfaction were the chips and salsa. Chips were ordinary fare but hot. The salsa was more of a mole base rather than tomato base...served warm and very tasty. The salsa was more like I have had in small towns in rural Mexico. The... More

This place is awesome and I've already suggested it to friends on many occasions... Never a negative word! They've got the most unique selections on their menu-- healthy options, too! A great place to go out with friends, take a date, or even bring the family. Make sure you ask about the Chef's Special taco!

This establishment has it all. Great food, great service and great, fun atmosphere. Try the crawfish appetizer, it's superb. Highly recommended.
