I have never had Mexican food in NOLA that I liked. My friends took us here and I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. We all loved it. The atmosphere was awesome as well as our service. The next time we are in NOLA we will return.

We'd eaten here once before & weren't impressed. Decided to try it again & changed our mind. We both ordered combo platters. Loved grilled fish tacos & grilled vegetable skewers! Will go back!

Wonderful food, great margaritas, and friendly efficient service. Especially try the Watermelon Margarita, not sweet with a slight tang. Yun-O!

I guess we lucked out while in New Orleans and Bay St Louis to find such great restaurants. On our last day before heading to the airport, we happened upon The Velvet Cactus in the Lakeside area near a huge park. The margaritas were epic and I could only take one, followed by a taco filled with everything good -... More

The velvet cactus has great drinks, good food, and a friendly staff. It's always packed when I go do come in early. I think it's a bit pricy... A quesadilla and margarita cost $15 not including tip. But for New Orleans not being a Mexican city I'd say this restaurant pretty dang close to authentic.

We were taken to this Lakeview restaurant for lunch by friends who had been there several times. I was impressed by the eclectic decorations and the walled in outdoor patio. It reminded me very much of the House of Blues decorations. As for food we all ordered the Fajitas with one couple ordering chicken and the other steak. Sides were... More

The Velvet Cactus has a simply beautiful exterior and interior. I ordered the Two Beef Enchiladas With Two Sides Plate ($12.99), which came with some pretty good Chips & Salsa appetizer, three beef enchiladas, cheesy grits, drunken beans (cooked with Dos Equis beer), shredded lettuce, a big glob of sour cream, and lots of sliced jalepeno peppers. It was all... More

I come here often & love it. Tonight was very busy, of course. We were quoted 30 min wait time. 40 mins pass so I ask Scott what the status of our name on the books is..he says oh, I thought it was crossed off, I'll seat you now. No apology, no concern, no nothing. If I hadn't approached the... More

Was taken to this neighbourhood restaurant by family when visiting in December 2013. It was a busy Thursday night and people were seated both inside and out. We were asked for our preference and opted to eat indoors and after about 10 minutes we were shown to a table. It was happy hour and we enjoyed the upsized margaritas. Chips... More
