We found this little gem while waiting in a table at Refuel. The line was long and it was cold so we decided to go next door and try this Latin Cafe. We are so glad we did. She had the Central American breakfast with possibly the best Pupusa in NOLO. My cosmopolitan burrito was amazing with chorizo from Argentina.... More

A great cash-only BYOB latin american cafe. Food is well-made of fresh ingredients, the server is attentive, great vegetarian dishes on the menu. I live close by and this cafe, together with Panchita's on Carrollton, are my favorites in the area.

Came here after finding the restaurant on trip advisor. This place is quiet and charming, with excellent service. The food was delicious, most especially the caramel flan. We are so glad we stopped by here to eat.

Open on July 4th for breakfast/brunch - we wandered in looking for something different and were pleasantly surprised! Food was freshly prepared, great portions and seasonings were delicious. Salad greens were very fresh and colorful, and the black beans were the BEST we've ever eaten. Staff was friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was how warm the dining area was... More

What a wonderful find! Traveling to a city and state so far away from our own we were looking for somewhere that might have some food we were familiar with and I stumbled upon this wonderful little gem. Now my husband and his family are from El Salvador and are very picky about their Pupusas so I was a little... More

Restaurant is located in a cluster of small local eateries off Carrolton Avenue in New Orleans. Being a Sunday, we picked it because it had a unique brunch menu posted in its window. I ordered the Steak and Eggs. Egg was prepared perfect. The beef was tender and tasty. The saffron rice was prepared great and the salad was particularly... More

Tasty food and good service. Nice family owned place. Everything is homemade and you can really taste the difference. Also nice to find something a little different in the area.

This is a small family owned restaurant where everything is prepared fresh in house. Our waiter - Jonathan - was so friendly and helpful. Miss Isabela was also very sweet and friendly. They are willing to make any changes you want and are eager to please. The food was AMAZING! The BEST pupusas I have ever had. They have a... More

This restaurant was delicious. My mom and I were looking for Salvadorian food and found this cute little restaurant. The hostess/waitress was very nice and answered all our questions. Their yellow rice was delicious. I had never order pupusas that came with a side of rice, beans, and salad. At first I though two pupusas wasn't going to be enough... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
