Excellent Food but Restaurant is very warm

Open on July 4th for breakfast/brunch - we wandered in looking for something different and were pleasantly surprised! Food was freshly prepared, great portions and seasonings were delicious. Salad greens were very fresh and colorful, and the black beans were the BEST we've ever eaten. Staff was... read more

What a wonderful find! Traveling to a city and state so far away from our own we were looking for somewhere that might have some food we were familiar with and I stumbled upon this wonderful little gem. Now my husband and his family are from El Salvador and are very picky about their Pupusas so I was a little... More

Restaurant is located in a cluster of small local eateries off Carrolton Avenue in New Orleans. Being a Sunday, we picked it because it had a unique brunch menu posted in its window. I ordered the Steak and Eggs. Egg was prepared perfect. The beef was tender and tasty. The saffron rice was prepared great and the salad was particularly... More

Tasty food and good service. Nice family owned place. Everything is homemade and you can really taste the difference. Also nice to find something a little different in the area.

This is a small family owned restaurant where everything is prepared fresh in house. Our waiter - Jonathan - was so friendly and helpful. Miss Isabela was also very sweet and friendly. They are willing to make any changes you want and are eager to please. The food was AMAZING! The BEST pupusas I have ever had. They have a... More

This restaurant was delicious. My mom and I were looking for Salvadorian food and found this cute little restaurant. The hostess/waitress was very nice and answered all our questions. Their yellow rice was delicious. I had never order pupusas that came with a side of rice, beans, and salad. At first I though two pupusas wasn't going to be enough... More

We rode the trolley down to check out a more touristy restaurant around the corner on the recommend of a friend, but when we got there the line was out the door and the menu didn't seem worth the wait. So we wandered around the corner and stopped at this little unassuming spot and were blown away. Everyone was extremely... More

La Macarena is one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. Manny, Miss Isabela and the rest of the gang make this a consistantly great place to eat. It is tiny, 6 four top, and 2 two top tables inside, and 2 outdoor tables. This isn't a bad thing though, it allows them to give everyone really great service and... More

Just a little storefront in the New Orleans University district; great El Salavador/Guatamalen, Mexican menu. Best guacamole and closest approximation of a Ucheppo (food of the goods) I've had at lunch. Not too pricy but cash only

A great place to go if you want Latin American food, but are tired of just the standard Mexican menu. The bananas are incredible and the staff is helpful explaining the unique items on the menu.
