Great steakhouse

Great steakhouse. I ate there with my wife a few weeks ago. I have always heard great things about it on WWL radio and was anxious to try it. I did a really nice review then but apparently it didn't post. We had at lunch there and it was fantastic. I had bbq shrimp as an appetizer and was was... read more

Our dinner at Mr. Johns reminded us why this place is number one in our mind when it comes to steak. The atmosphere reminds me of an old fashioned chop house. The wine list is impressive and the fine cuts of beef are unforgettable. The four of us in our group got the Filet (10 oz), Petite Filet (6 oz),... More

My husband made reservations months ago to this place for my birthday. We arrived for our reservation at 7:20 and was not seated for our 7:30 reservation until 7:45 even though there were tables opened all around us we noticed when we were finally seated with minimal guests leaving. A little confused as to why we had to wait. We... More

I am a long time Midwesterner and I must admit my expectations are high when it comes to "fine" or "prime" steakhouses. That being said I have to judge places on the premise of their recommendation and price point. This place was recommended to me as the best steak house in New Orleans and the price point (while not that... More

My wife and I eat out a lot and the steak here was good but not 50$ good and for 50$ you only get steak, salad was a additional 11$ and a side was 7$. There's way to many other choices in New Orleans. The staff was great and the atmosphere was good. They have a good wine list.

First let me state that I am a salty veteran when it comes to fine dinning and Mr. John fell quite short of the mark. Our host was polite and courteous, but our waiter not so much. This young man was all business no greeting, ready to take our order, and get us out! He brought us drinks and moment... More

Birthday dinner for my wife so we picked Mr. Johns due to the fact that we have Ruth Chris, Morton's and Capital Grill back home and we love a good steak. Made reservations in early June on Open Table so was a little disappointed when I got there 5 minutes early and still had to wait another 15 minutes for... More

Went there for my little brothers high school graduation and they gave him complementary meat balls which were AMAZING. They were made from filet trimmings. The filet mignon was by far best I've ever had. Melt in your mouth amazingness. Only downside is it's very loud and can hardly hear what anyone is saying.

Service here is equal to the excellent food. While the steaks are their calling card, excellent fish is served daily. And the family style vegetables are all tasty. Reservations are recommended, it's a popular place.

I enjoyed my steak but it was covered in butter/oil and really didn't have the char I was expecting so I am dinging them one star for this. The offset is the Who Dat shrimp which I could have eaten 20 of them and not had a steak. They were that good and would go back for the shrimp in... More
