This is a lovely place. I recommend reservations as it was very crowded. We were seated in the garden area. It was a wonderful evening to sit outdoors. I had the beef cheeks which were tender and savory and delicious. Everything we had was good. The service was friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful time.

We ate here Tuesday night. It was pouring outside so there wasn't a wait. Obviously we ate inside but the outdoor seating area looked very nice. My husband ordered a burger which he thought was great and I had the chicken sandwich. They both came with enough fries for three people, and the menu doesn't even mention that fries are... More

We showed up Saturday morning for brunch and there were only a few table occupied. We didn't have a reservations but they told us they were too full right now and we would have to wait about 30 minutes for a table. I found odd since there were over a dozen tables open at that time. We weren't in a... More

Don't miss the good food at Sylvain. We did not have reservations so we sat at the bar and ate. The hamburgers were delicious. The best in New Orleans. You must try the "Chocolate pot de creme" dessert, chocolate custard with whipped cream. YUMMY! My only suggestion, they need to use bigger candles so I can read the menu.

Start with a bloody mary and go from there. The Shaved Brussel sprouts and Scrambled Egg Toast are excellent appetizer ideas. the Sylvain burger was enjoyable as well. good service and fantastic location.

Sylvain's was recommended to us by the hotel bartender. We didn't have reservations (which I would definitely do in the future) but there were seats at the bar. First the food. As others have noted, the menu isn't extensive but there is a nice variety and everything is outstanding. Personally I prefer a few things done well then a lot... More

We were there for New Year's Eve. Nice table. A little bit dark, had to use our phones to read the menu. The waiter had to use a candle to tell us what was on our cheese plate. Nice selection of food. Tasted great! Dessert menu was limited, needs more options than sorbet and pot de chocolate.

My friend, whose 40th BD we were in town for, had heard about this spot from friends and was eager to try it. Not only because of recommendations, but because they have Champagne and Fries on the menu as a dining item. It is such a novel idea since they both really balance each other. We stopped by on a... Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
