Something different

If you get tired of Cajun and oysters (I do pretty fast), head to this small funky place for something very different. We had to wait for half an hour to be seated for lunch; that was worth it but do make a reservation. My favorite was beef belly, yumm... I can still feel the flavor and texture as... read more

Food good. Service Good. Noise level toooo high. Music too loud cannot have a decent conversation and they need to do something to dampen the effects of the conversations at other tables. I had forgotten how loud this restaurant is. Everytime I go I say to myself not going back because of how loud it is

We left reserving brunch until about a week before we were in NOLA and so it was a little difficult trying to find a reservation.Luckily we happened upon Sylvain and were able to get one. We were seated near the window in a somewhat darkened dining room so we had plenty of bright light for our meal. We started with... More

We had reservations for six and arrived on time, had to wait outside for 20 minutes. It was cold but they lit a heater. When we were seated, we had to use our phones to read the menus. The service was good and the food was fine. I read other reviews about the shaved brussel sprout salad and several ordered... More

We happened upon Sylvain while exploring the French Quarter and it was super cool! the entrance is hidden down a dark hall and the courtyard has outdoor seating in addition to the bar/dinning room. The menu is eclectic with delicious appetizers and salads along with a range of entrees including an awesome chicken sandwich. Good service and a funky/charming atmosphere!... More

A trip to NOLA's quarter wouldn't be complete without enjoying this mostly local, delightful restaurant. The favorite dish for me is the buffalo sweetbreads. The sauce is a perfect combination of flavors and heat. If you like sazerac this is one of the places in New Orleans to order it. The bar can be a bit crowded so I prefer... More

The bar seemed to be the main attraction, but the food was good, especially a shrimp dish called, maybe, "turloo" that was like nothing elsewhere and very good. The lighting is very dim, and the food is better than most in the French Quarter

Our first night in the city we stumbled upon this restaurant via a local. It was quaint and welcoming with fantastic food, drinks and atmosphere. The bartender was accommodating and engaging. Would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

We enjoyed several restaurants across New Orleans, but Sylvain topped the list. We were lucky to get a seat at the bar for dinner without a reservation. The hostess tipped us off as two well oiled guest left the bar. Alysa and Lucy were masterful tending bar as they prepared complicated drink orders, while helping us with dinner choices. Most... It was raining and we had to eat inside. They have a cool outdoor courtyard that would have been nice to eat at. The food was still good no matter where you sit!
