First tasting of sweetbreads

Had to try the sweetbreads, along with an order of pork shoulder. All was good. A litle pricey, but it's the French Quarter after all.

A local recommended Sylvain to my husband and I. We sat in the laid back courtyard just outside the kitchen where you can see the chefs working away. The food and drinks were amazing. We had such a great time I brought my friends there on a second trip to NOLA. We didn't have a reservation so we sat at... More

We had a business dinner here and Sylvain is fabulous (but sit inside - see below). The group started with a round of empanadas - crisp, warm and filled with delicious veggies and stuff. Now for the main course, I have to say that, while I can be a bit adventurous, I typically don't pursue "odd" cuts, so I surprised... More

We felt the cuisine at Sylvain was the best we had on our trip to NOLA. The flounder that was the catch of the evening was superb. The preparation let the full flavor and body of the fish come through, enhanced by the highlights of the sauce, and vegetables it was served on. The Mescal drink Monkey Hour is one... More

I found the ambiance and service excellent. All the food was excellent. I had the fish special, and although delicious, it was a touch overpriced.

This was my second time at Sylvain. The food is still as good as it was last year. We were a party of six this time and ordered different things. The outstanding dishes at lunch were the squash soup with habanero, the burger and the fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich and burger came with some of the best fries I've... More

I had the fried pork shoulder and it was fantastic. Sister had scallops and for dessert we had the chocolate pudding like dessert. It was all TASTY! :). Service was good too. Great little place in the quarter.

I had a delicious meal here of a salad and pasta. It's one of the few places in New Orleans I saw some fresh greens! The pasta was homemade and had just the right amount of a wonderful Bolognese. It was a great relief from a lot of the usual excesses of other restaurants. All the dishes I saw coming... More

Yes, it's a lit dark and noisy, a little hard to find, down an alleyway, but the food was great. Had the pan-seared scallops. They were huge, firm tender, and juicy. Served on couscous with fennel citrus salad and roasted hazelnuts, the mixture of flavors and textures was amazing. Would return tomorrow to try the beef dish the couple next... More

For those who want really great food and to get away from the tourist restaurants which line the streets of the French Quarter this is a must. Seating is either in the intimate setting inside which has a 'buzzy' bar or its Al fresco in the pretty courtyard. We loved it so much we visited 2 nights and did one... More
