Trust food safe for people with allergies in New Orleans

My daughter and I recently had two meals at this restaurant located in the French Market. We both have food allergies: gluten, nut and dairy. We were able to eat safely plus we had many choices. My daughter had never had a Po'boy after many trips to the area because of the gluten and cross... read more

first of all the welcome is great and the service attentive. sadly, it stops there. at $40 fir 2 simple breakfasts and a juice it is a very price affair, especially as it is served on paper plates, with paper cutlery too cheap to cut anything. the food is not bad at all, just very unreasonably priced. will certainly not... I feel your pain and I appreciate and respect your review. I also can relate! The cost to serving "clean" and organic food options is challenging. Fresh squeezed juices locally sourced and avoidance of gmo's, ouch! I personally shop for Meals From The Heart Cafe's ingredients, I know. Thank you for your kind reference to my friendly staff. They appreciate... More

Thank you so much for your kind words and narrative about your experience and your daughter's experience while "refueling" at Meals From The Heart Cafe. To ensure guests' safety, our kitchen must go through a cleaning process each time an "Allergy Alert" is announced. In actuality, it takes about 15 minutes to prepare every meal.. But our six-burner operation, in... More

Great food. Don't have to wait to get back to my hotel. The staff is very friendly and funny. Don't need to go broke for a nice lunch.

Natural - pure and fresh - egg white omelette sans natural juices - you really can't beat it for a healthy start to the day!

If you want to eat healthy, this is the place. It is located in the Market building with bar stools and counter and has overhead heaters to keep you warm on chilly days. We highly recommend the crab cake salad- - very good. We also enjoyed the conversation with the wait person. She was very friendly and engaged us with... More

Coming from a Scotland I know a little about cold weather but even in New Orleans in January late afternoon I felt a chill in the air. The bar seats nicely warmed by the overhead heaters was a cosy place to read the menu which seemed to me a real find for those requiring gluten free eats. I don't have... More

The crab cake was really good. More flakes than lump crab, but clean tasting. I had the salad and it was very good

Thank you good Folks for taking out the time to write a review on Meals From The Heart Café. You may not know this, but we have sold over 87,000 crab cakes since 1986. I also am pleased that you recognized the "clean" taste of our signature product. We care about you and your heart. Hope to meet you on... More

We waited more than 30 minutes for gluten free pancakes before we asked for a refund. Several people arrived after we placed our order, they were served and left while we continued to wait. Very disappointed !!!

Yes! You did wait a total of 36 minutes. I am sorry for your inconvenience. You should have been informed that the new gluten free flour we are using sticks to the griddle. So they were having problems with quality. If you are still in town, I hope that you will consider returning for complimentary hotcakes. Once again, please accept... More

I was able to enjoy a gluten free meal while my friends were able to have a healthy meal as well. We had breakfast here and it was amazing! It's a little pricey, but healthy food is in general and all the meals we had on this trip were. The staff was super sweet and friendly as well.

Cool peas! Gluten-free, yay. Your visit was mutually beneficial. It is always our pleasure to meet our guests' expectations. All of what we serve is hand-selected, most often, by little ole me. Do note that we have many gluten-free items that are organic and/or locally produced. Not sure if you tried our gluten-free gumbo, but we refuse to prepare this,... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
