Relaxing location and great food

This is a relaxing place with semi-outdoor seating not far from the French Quarter. The cuisine features an excellent variety of seafood dishes served in large portions. The atmosphere is casual with spectacular views of the Mississippi, barges, and a steamboat.

Went here after one of the Mardi Gras parades. We ordered fresh oysters on the half shell .. when they came out they were frozen. The place was empty and had a band that was playing way to loud. Gumbo was decent and had a po-boy with lots of shrimp .. but I wouldn't eat here again. I only went... More

We got lost trying to find it. They need to change there outside pictures of the restaurant it does not look like that now. There was a festival going on so it was difficult to find. Voodoo juice was great and we got the lobster basket. It was very good

Beware, the menu on Groupon and on Crazy Lobsters website is highly inaccurate. Be aware the prices are much higher when you get there, and the selection is far less. We ate here twice, One waitress was a dud, the other was great, unreal in the quality of service. Fried catfish/shrimp dinner was great, crab legs were great, lobster steamed... More

This riverfront restaurant had a great New Orleans atmosphere complete with a four piece jazz group that was jamming/practicing? in the front corner of the veranda & flat screen TV's in the bar area. Lunch choices were a great representation of New Orleans specialties. The crab cake poor boy and bowl of gumbo soup were very filling. The surprise was... More

Great way to begin a beautiful Lundi Gras morning. Enjoyed Bloodies, fried pickles and popcorn shrimp with a view of the beautiful Mississippi listening to Nola music!

We bypassed the food court at the outlet collection and wandered over to this restaurant instead. We ordered the shrimp and grits and red beans and rice, and both were delicious. They had music playing outside, but an indoor section as well. Overall we were pleased with this restaurant.

What a wonderful find! After a long day, we decided to stay close to our hotel for dinner and were not disappointed. Poppy's offered outdoor dining, live music and very generous and tasty meals. Highly recommend!

Started with the grilled oysters along with their Voodoo Juice. Great start. We enjoyed both! We moved to the seafood tower with plenty of shrimp, muscles, clams and raw oysters. All were excellent. Our server was very nice as was everyone in the restaurant. Great venue, would be very pretty in the daytime overlooking the Mississippi River. Purchase a Groupon. They... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
