They had the most choice of any chocolate place we have ever been and it all was fresh and fabulous I think we gained 20lbs just looking but it was soo worth it. A must do in New Orleans

Any crawl around the French Market is not worth doing unless you drop in Southern Canymakers. Before you walk in though, throw all caution and common sense aside though. The place is a veritable den of iniquity for those with a sweet tooth. I got a couple of sweet potato pecan pralines and thought I had gone to heaven.

A trip to NOLA wouldn't be complete without a stop at Southern Candymakers. There's usually a line but it moves rapidly and the counter staff is always friendly and efficient. Best pralines in town!

I have visited New Orleans five times in the last year now that my daughter is a freshman at Tulane. I have walked all over and sampled the pralines at each store I saw them offered act and hands down these are the best. My friend raved about Aunt Sally's but in my opinion they don't hold a candle to... More

Every year I send coworkers a box of pralines from my trip to New Orleans. Every time I sample all the pralines. These are the creamiest and sweetest...no shortcuts taken here! I always buy pralines here, plain, chocolate, rum, coconut, peanut butter. Don't forget all the other specialty candies here, many varieties of turtles, nut clusters, and holiday specialties. Hang... Lots of lovely handmade, delicious candy here. A huge variety, too. They also sell condiments and other souvenirs.

They make the candy right there in front of you. They pride themselves on their pralines and their pride is justified. They have Ice cream and other sweets as well. Small and understated. The pralines are about $22 per pound. I don't know how that stacks up cost wise, but it's right by the river at the Wolenberg entrance and... More

This is a typical southern candy store. They sell typical southern homemade candy that I have seen in stores all over this state. (fudge, chocolate covered items) They are famous for their pralines and they have many types of pralines. If you want pralines, absolutely come by! The employees are very nice! But the store is very crowded, we waited... More

Based on the ratings we saved our Praline purchase for here. We weren't disappointed. There is just something different and better here. Lots and lots of selection as other reviews note. It is a test of will power here. Enjoy!!!
