Great Bar - 701

A 3pm vodka soda warm up can easily be achieved here. Sitting at the bar on a quiet Thursday afternoon this place is obviously a favourite with locals as well. This restaurant isn't fancy dining but it serves great local food and very reasonable prices. It's 2 blocks from the Staybridge Suite. The staff is the (typical for us) friendly NOLA staff with all the knowledge, wit and charm we found throughout the city. They really make you feel at home and welcomed.

Great place for conversation and excellent food and drinks! Alain was just what we needed as the bartender - funny and great conversation while we got our day started here. We visited about 10 years ago and made sure to find this spot again when we finally returned --- a great unique neighborhood place!

Looking for a place for easy food and good drinks...FOUND IT. The Christmas lights add to the eclectic atmosphere. Wanted to eat at the bar and it was like a local, neighborhood bar..where everybody knows your name and they are glad you came. The Cobb salad was Awesome!!!!Get the jalapeño ranch dressing. The salsa is clearly home made and the... More

Just a friendly place for good conversation and great food. The entire staff is service oriented. Bartenders are polite, professional and provide good information about NOLA's as a whole.

We were part of a private function upstairs and we were well looked after with an array of very tasty finger food. The place has a lot of ambience as it is set in a very old building on a corner. Its location is ideal as it is out of the noisy French Quarter but close enough to walk to... More

We stopped by Lucy's on Wed, Thursday and Friday . Very good bloody Mary's! We also had tuna dip as an appetizer one day my husband really liked I thought was just OK! We got lucky on New Year's Day they were serving blackeyed peas and cabbage! It was really good and a huge portion. There were 3 couples and... More

Very busy the day of the Sugar Bowl - everything was packed early in the afternoon. We got a table in Lucy's within 20 minutes and were served quickly after we were seated. The food was plentiful - the Californian Burrito was great. They could do a bit to get a more interesting beer list though

One of my favorite's every time I go. Gotta have my Juicy Lucy! It's just a great little hole in the wall joint. Last time they were showing a Yankees game on the wall across the street...on the side of the building! Great staff and food no matter the time of day. Try it you will love it!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
