The Brasserie V is the best place in Madison to sample a wide range of domestic and foreign beers. The Belgium beers are especially good. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We especially like the salads, which are fresh and tasty. A "small" salad is a decent helping. I would give this place a high review, because they have a wonderful beer selection and pretty good food to boot. But I was confused by the few times I had been here by the number of young mommies with their massive strollers trying to negotiate to a spare table. It is a very tight fit, and the hard surfaces... Not sure where to start - the handout fries in truffle oil sprinkled with Parmesan and served in a cone wrapped in a French newspaper? the friendly staff and warm golden decor? the moist, flavorful burger done just right served on home made sourdough with onion straws, lettuce tomato and a special aioli? or the beer - surprising, each more... Stopped here late on a Thursday (after 9 pm) looking for dinner. No problem! Great wine list, unbelievable beer list; it would take all night just to read the entire thing. Gotta love a place that has cotes du rhone by the glass (and a respectable one at that). Limited menu, but what they do, they do well. Husband had... More

I really want to love this place. When it's on, it's on and the food is great, but unfortunately the food and service is just not consistent and they have an issue getting the orders right. Prices are reasonable but when you really never know what you are going to get it makes me choose elsewhere.

Admittedly, this place was a little pricey. You can expect to pay $9 for a decent beer here, but I think it was worth it. Had mussels and sliders (interesting combination, right?) with a couple of different beers. The ambience was just right...people don't talk too loudly, and there's music at the perfect volume. For whatever reason, the lighting was... More

The title pretty much says it all. Went here during Madison Craft Beer Week and had a great experience. Our waiter knew the details of every food item and beer we asked about, and had obviously put in the time (and liver damage) to be able to provide us with meaningful recommendations. We started with the cheese plate (because Wisconsin).... More

The dinner I had here was the best meal of a 3 day business trip to Madison. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. I was responsible for locating a casual bistro for a mid-sized group, who had all been traveling for the day. Brasserie V was recommended to me, and was very close to our hotel. The... More

Best steak frites or moules frites you will find in the US, and the beer selection is incredible. Although belgian beers are the forte, they have craft beers from around the globe - both tap & bottle. The food is almost all locally sourced, and really consistent. Great people (both clientele & staff) - we always meet someone interesting in... More
