I've had a lot of sushi in my life! When I moved to madison, I was beginning to lose hope for good sushi. I found a lot of places that has a great atmosphere, but disappointing sushi. I stopped over at Takumi because it was one of the last places I didn't try. I can easily say now that I... More

Stopped by this restaurant to sip some sake and check out the place. I found it very enjoyable. The bartender was very friendly and conversational. It was easy to relax here; that's the kind of ambiance that this restaurant offers. While I didn't eat myself, I did see a couple of young dudes come in and order some sushi. Looked... More

Nice deco, good ambiance. Great services. The sushi is not very tasty and the fish is not very fresh. Price. does not match quality

Excellent, freshly made, consistently good (in taste & in size of the rolls) sushi here. A bit pricey, but probably worth it. They have numerous raw & cooked varieties to choose from. Love eating here!

I had finished a meeting late and was hungry. I always like to find new restaurants, so on the way home I saw this Japanese Restaurant and quickly pulled into the lot. Going inside I was met immediately by the staff and seated. I asked if there were any specials and was introduced to "fire eel". An aluminum foil package... More

Went to this restaurant twice with my co-worker's strong recommendation. But it was a little disappointed. The soup was a little too watery and not enough taste. The vegetable didn't have enough sauces to cover. I ordered the salmon lunch box but the vegetable were bland and not enough sauces. The salmon is a little over cook. But my friends... More

I went to Takumi for lunch with three other business travelers from Washington DC. I have been so many sushi places while traveling on business and this is among the best. Lunch specials included two sushi rolls with either soup or salad for under $10. I had the Spicy Tuna and the Spicy Tempura Shrimp rolls with the Miso Soup.... More

I cannot pinpoint what makes great sushi, but the meld of flavors in my Americanized sushi was wonderful. The unfiltered saki was very good, not the best I've ever had, but close. I liked the small venue and attentive service. Overall, the best Asian food in Madison.

I love going to the Takumi Japanese Restaurant over by East Towne (near Pier One). The waiters and chefs are amazing, very friendly atmosphere, small but nice decor. The sushi is exellent--they have specials every day, but my very favorite meal there is their Bento Box because I love the variety. Give it a try, you'll love it.

The cooking process was very entertaining. The food was very good, well cooked and seasoned perfectly. Definitely a great place to eat with friends. A lot of fun. Good tip, if you are going for dinner get there by 6 and you will get the first Habachi cooking session. The Habachi area is small, we had a group of 9... More
