We drove up from Chicago for the weekend all for cheese. So it made sense to stop by The Old Fashioned, which comes highly-recommended by friends who live here, just for the beer-battered cheese curds. They're great but best shared with a group so you can sample other sides. Order the Tiger Blue or the Smoked Paprika dips to go... More

The Old Fashioned was enjoyable. Stopped in for a late lunch, wait was about 15 minutes on a Saturday. A must...the fried cheese curds!! 3 of us had soup and 1 had the grilled cheese. We all enjoyed our meal. $50 for 2 appitizers, 3 soups, 1 sandwich and coffee...

After living in Wisconsin for the past 6 years I realize what a big deal it is to say this place has "the best cheese curds" but they really do! If you are visiting Wisconsin for the first time or the 101st time you must go here. Get your brandy old fashioned sweet or sour and your basket of cheese... More

An upscale bar food experience. If you come after 5:45, plan to spend some time enjoying the many available craft beers or have one of the 555K+ Old Fashions served in this really fun restaurant. Lots of really great food choices makes this a must stop while in Madison.

Went with some friends today to The Old Fashioned, after a late morning of the Farmers Market, and we decided to try TOF for lunch, it was busy,, Badger game was in full swing, we had about a 45 minute wait, not a problem, sat at the Bar, So, the good,, nice tapper selection of beers, and a solid lineup... My husband and I went here for the prime rib special on a Saturday night. We were told there would be a 45-60 minute wait and we gave the hostess my cell number. I like that they text you when your table is ready so that you can walk around downtown or grab a drink somewhere before you go for... More

I was in town from a considerable distance away and was overwhelmed by their beer list. It was massive and I'd never heard of half of them. Being someone who loves beer, I could probably live at this place. The food was pretty great, too. I had a burger and it was one of the best I've ever had. Definitely... More

Tried going here 2 nights in a row but a 45 min wait list. The restaurant does not accept reservations which deterred us from trying again on another evening. Perhaps college students don't mind standing around for 45 min in a very small space. We finally ate there for lunch on a Monday. Lunch is order at the counter and... More

I'll start by saying that I'm a little disappointed that we didn't try one of their Old Fashioneds, but they had such a nice beer list that we just had to have beer. Besides, I was planning on having the wurst platter, and it would be a crime not to have beer with wurst. Wouldn't it? However, we came here... More

We ate here on a Friday night and got the fish fry and fried cheese curds. Yes, all bad for you but once in a while, it's fun to live. The fish was excellent...not overly huge portion but again, we didn't need a ton. The Brandy Old Fashioned was very good and everyone was friendly. It was very crowded but... More
