My brother took us here while we were visiting Madison for the weekend.....I'm glad he did! This is a fantastic drinking establishment well-located in downtown Madison. First, they have a HUGE (and inexpensive) beer menu. What makes it cool is that they really push local and regional beers. Being from Iowa, I hadn't heard of most of them, which made... More

MY daughter suggested this restaurant because she says they have the best cheese curds in Madison...she didn't lie. The Old Fashioned makes the little nuggets of cheesy goodness fried and then serves them with your choice of sauce (we had them with the chipotle sauce). Absolutely amazing! But the goodness doesn't stop there. We both ordered burgers which were cooked... More

Start to finish The Old Fashioned is the go-to place for casual dining in Downtown Madison. With beer offerings numbering in the hundreds, and yummy food, served up in large portions, diners won't go away dissatisfied or hungry. Add to the wonderful pub food, the service was amazing. Our server offered help with a brew--if wheat's your thing try the... More

I love eating local cuisine when I visit a place. I saw the reviews of The Old Fashioned and had to try it out. It was so good, I went back the next day for lunch! Since I was alone, I dined at the bar during my first visit. I had the house burger and a beer. The house burger... More

..and there's a reason why. This is a popular place. I was solo and ate at the full service bar rather than waiting for a table. Bar tender was fun and helpful. Food was reasonably priced and delicious - beer selections galore! Recommend!

We had breakfast meals and a really good Bloody Mary. Breakfast meals were good too. Service at the bar was great.

Pancakes were a bit dry and overcooked and our service was very slow. I'm sure this is a great bar with out of this world cheese curds but they should stick to that and not try to do outside their expertise. Breakfast lovers should look elsewhere.

This place offers food choices that are comfort food and local to what Wisconsin offers. They are very sensitive to food allergies, and attentive to customers. They now have table service, which is new for them. It is a fun place, and I especially recommend it to people that are not from the area.

Another great restaurant. Friendly staff, great service, moderately priced food. Even though they were packed, we had almost no wait for our table. The staff was very efficient in getting tables cleared and ready for the next customers The food was great.

Our group of 6 arrived on Saturday night about 7:30 and we were seated right away. We were prepared to wait so this was a nice way to start dinner. The deep fried cheese curds are excellent - especially washed down with a sampler of WI beers. The place is noisy but it adds to the lively atmosphere. Service was... More
