The relaxed open atmosphere of the place did make it a bit difficult to have a one-on-one conversation; but, the overall environment was true to the pub experience. Featuring an impressive selection of beers, the most difficult part was selecting a brew. The bar staff was friendly and gave us time to consider our options before making any suggestions or... More

We were looking for local flavor and found it. Lots of Wisconsin beer choices, Green Bay chili, brats, and other regional selections. The waitress was friendly and efficient, and the price was reasonable.

We went for lunch immediately upon arrival into Madison and sat at the bar to order lunch. The restaurant itself was busy for SUnday brunch and a bit over-run with young families and busy children. What are they thinking? There is a great selection of local brews on tap, and the sandwiches were delicious. Two of us had the beer... More

I can not comment on the food because the wait was 2 hours for a table. It looks like a good atmosphere. But you have to speak to the 2 incredibly rude and uninterested hostesses. Every person who came to ask for a table had to wait for the 2 young "ladies" to finish their conversation with each other and... More

We had a very good meal and with 50 beers on tap I found 1 or 2 or more I liked. Thanks to the staff.

Loved this place for the atmosphere (old paneling, tin ceiling, ghosts of politicians), beer selection and well-prepared pub food. We did not have the ordering problem some have mentioned. That may be the lunch procedure. We had an efficient, well-trained waitress. Not being a beer lover, I appreciated being served a shot glass for a tasting. Loved the Wisconsin New... More

Do you love a brandy old fashion? This is the place. The restaurant is such a fun place. You feel like you've gone back in time. The old timey beer signs and just reading the menu. One page is titled "booze." Subtle :) My son had an amazing grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and bell peppers. It was excellent. I... More

Many Wisconsin choices of food and beverage. Good service, although loud atmosphere as you'd expect in a bar ... go early to avoid a line. Excellent draft and bottled beer selection. My wife liked the ribs as I did the Mac&Cheese and ring bologna. Recommended when looking for local experience.

We have been here three times in the last 2 days! Started out with an old fashioned (sweet) and the matchstick fries with smoked paprika dipping sauce. We could have eaten the dipping sauce without the fries, it was that good! Followed up with more old fashioneds and lunch today. We had the double bratwurst sandwich and a fresh salad... More
