Good informal place to enjoy a meal

Nice menu, very friend wait staff, and good selection of beverages. Acoustics were pretty reasonable, so we could hold a conversation.

Every trip to Madison includes breakfast here. Great scrambled eggs and the best fried cheese curds anywhere.

We've had lunch here twice and the food is amazing. For lunch you need to be there when it opens as it's very popular. Service was great!

Solid breakfast here. Was crowded so had to wait at the bar until a table opened but I recommend. Good drink menu and tasty greyhounds.

My favorite story is about the constantly long wait lines that often reach onto the sidewalk. Lines do not shorten in Wisconsin winter which can be brutal and folks wait in the bus shelter in front! This will tell you how desirable the restaurant is. Food is interesting, excellent quality, locally sourced ingredients. Wisconsin traditions and comfort food are featured... More

I love the Old Fashioned. It's tough to get in, but well worth the wait. All of their sandwiches are available on g free bread, including the grilled ones. They are terrific! My personal favorite is the portobello mushroom sandwich, with a side order of salad. Absolutely terrific!

I love this place for what it is: an updated version of an old fashioned idea. It's casual, beer selection is great and the food can be really good to exceptional. Beware, there will be a wait if there are a lot of people downtown.

Nice place for any meal time, although the dinner menu is the same as lunch so a lot of sandwiches. Great place to have brunch on a saturday morning after or before the farmers market. One of my favorite places the cheese soup is great with a few pieces of popcorn on top wish it was a bit warmer when... More

I've been to The Old Fashioned for drinks, happy hour, dinner and apps. I recently went to Old Fashioned for breakfast, and it was surprisingly great. I didn't expect a bar to have such great breakfasts. I ordered the special (meat scrambler) as did my boyfriend. We both loved it. We went on a Friday morning at about 10 AM... More

We ate breakfast at the Old Fashioned on a Saturday morning before walking around the Dane County Farmer's Market (directly across the street from the restaurant). Nice list of traditional breakfast options, plus some Saturday specials that coincided with produce that was in season and being sold at the farmer's market. The food wasn't life changing, but we enjoyed our... More
