Had a chance to dine in Sardines during Restaurant week. The place was crowded, but we got our place right at the window and were served immediately. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Dishes were interesting variations (goat cheese/onion tart and Salad for starter, grilled Norwegian salmon and hazelnut dacquoise / crème renversée as tasty desserts. The plates are... More

I've eaten at many, many restaurants in the city of Madison, running the gamut from burgers joints to gastropubs to fine dining, and this may be the best meal I've ever had in this town. The service is extraordinary and the view of Lake Monona only adds to the overall quality of the experience. Would I dine here again? YES!!... More

The food is very tasty but it seems like they don't ever update the menu. Very few items are available if you don't care for seafood.

six people who ate various fish dishes with Pinot Noir...great options and done to perfection. The sauces and frits were a delight, service was attentive yet not a nusance.

Excellent menu and good service. Location on Lake Monona, with a view of the lake. If busy, as they were during my Sunday Brunch visit, it can be quite noisy. But the good food makes up for the noise.

A diverse, yet fulfilling menu. Wait staff seem pleased you are there. Weather permitting, you can sit outside and have a beautiful view of Lake Monona and the boats and birds. Weather a problem? Sit inside with the same view. Generous drinks and portions. Plenty of parking. The weekend brunch is a must. Recommend going after 12:30 to avoid the... More

We ate in the evening. I had duck--THE best duck I have ever had anywhere. My wife had brisket and she loved it. Ate with another couple. I dont remember what they had but they were very pleased. And wine was reasonable.

An absolute must for the happy hour oysters (1/2 price) from 4-6 on weekdays. We had a half dozen of each type (east coast). YUM! House wine is also a steal at 3$. Wonderful start to our evening... Great service and ambience! I gave 5 stars for starters; yet to try dinner.

Sardine is in a class by itself. Incredible atmosphere. Spectacular food. A staff that knows how to take care of the customer. This is a restaurant that would hold it's own in any major foodie city you can think of -- New York, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans -- but not stuffy in any way. A great place for... I've heard about this place plenty of times and it was better than I expected. I've only been there on Sat or Sun mornings, so the wait was long as expected both times, but once we got our food it was great and it pretty reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. I highly recommend the burger for... More
