It's popular for sure! But: it is very very noisy! Can hardly carry on a conversation while eating. the waitstaff is depressing...no one smiles, or even greats you, seem to hate working there. The food is nicely presented, and overall was tasty. Still not going back!

Delicious and varied menu for Restaurant Week although more expensive than other restaurants ($30 vs $25) for dinner. Service was excellent. Great value coming rom Chicago

Lovely lovely brunch with Renae Danger, an amazing hostess and tender of the bar. We had such a nice time sitting and chatting; she took wonderful care of us.:) She made the brunch a sweet time on a very busy sunny Sunday Bloody, Mimosa, eggs, grits, bacon - say no more. Thank you, Mary and Ned

I've dined at many Madison restaurants and am consistently impressed by the quality of the food and the appearance of the establishments. That said, Sardine is one of the best in the city. I won't say "the best", only because I haven't been to EVERY restaurant. The location is right on Lake Monona, and we watched ice fishing during brunch... More

We ate dinner here on a very crowded night. We would have liked to eat outside but there were no tables available. We were seated in the front room which was fine except for a very loud party that was in a side section. It was so loud we could not hear ourselves talk. They need some way of muffling the... More

Sardine is a casual, relaxed place that offers high-quality bistro fare. Make a reservation, ask for a table near the windows for the view or in the back if you want quiet -- the central room, adjacent to the bar can be loud and feel crowded. The food is very nice -- their daily specials tend to be especially nicely... More

Never had been to Madison before, local friends recommended Sardine for its food and setting. When we made our reservation, we asked about outside seating, and, though the restaurant was very busy, and we waited for about 20 minutes at the bar, they soon seated us on their little deck overlooking the lake. Our waitress took good care of us... More

We went for the first time during a snow storm in December. They were booked up because it was the weekend of the UW graduation. I do believe they were experiencing some cancellations because of the bad weather. There were seven of us and we all enjoyed a lovely quiet brunch. I had the baked creamed eggs and they were... More

We were part of a large (22) group for dinner but also made arrangements for drinks and appetizers in front of the bar beforehand. Waitstaff service was very slow and unfriendly so many of us went to the bar for drinks. They were served promptly but by an equally unfriendly bartender. Felt like we were imposing. Appetizers were average. The... More

We have eaten here several times and each time we are not disappointed. Our latest visit was for brunch and we had salmon and pouched egg. Great treat and perfectly done.
