The chefs used to work in Chicago and LA, so they have big city knowledge of food. We started with large sardines, a bit disappointing as they came with heads and bones, a lot of work for a bit of fish. My wife had Wisconsin Ivory Char and I had Barramundi, both were excellent, we switched after we had eaten... More

We drove into the city from APT in Spring Green looking for waterfront dining. An online search directed us to Sardine. We called in and found that they were all booked up but suggested we walk in, sit at the bar and we could be seated within 45 minutes. We took the advice and were very pleased that we did.... More

Situated on the shore of one of Madison's lakes, we had a very good meal here. We focused on the fish dishes and were not disappointed. Well prepared and very tasty. Weather permitting, sit outside on the porch. Pretty view of the lake while you dine.

We dined at Sardine with a large group and it was a wonderful experience! Spencer was a great waiter. We can be a little difficult, but he was patient with us in explaining the menu and specials. When I made the reservation I asked if we could have separate checks. They said no problem which I really appreciate since we... More

This restaurant was highly recommended to us by acquaintances. It was good-not gray. Definitely overrated. WE were there with a reservation at 7 PM on a Saturday night. As often happens, we first shown to a rather undesirable (for us) table and had to request a change. This caused some consternation amongst the staff, but we were soon accommodated. They... More

Normally I would be most satisfied to write a review regarding the wonderful dining experience which Sardine provides day in and day out, however I am compelled to share another great attribute- the Happy Hour. Tuesday through and including Friday, Sardine offers from 4-6pm half price east coast oysters as well as $3.00 house red, white and rose. Additionally a... More

Nice outdoor dining spot (although they would benefit more from tall tables that would afford more of a view). The warm duck confit salad was so over-dressed as to be almost inedible, as was the prosciutto wrapped asparagus dish. The seared scallops were small but quite nicely done however.

We had a perfect meeting place to be displayed to our Sons very special girlfriend. A little too noisy, but the food was solid.

We celebrated a friend's 80th birthday here and had a fantastic meal with great service. The halibut was perfect, as well as the oysters, salads, and desert! The staff were especially accommodating with our requests for a quiet table, with easy access. Thank you Sardine!

This is a noisy, fun spot overlooking the water (although there is a parking lot between the restaurant and the lake). The entrance is not on Williamson Street but behind the building on Machinery Row where there is ample parking. The food is solid--standard bistro items, well prepared and presented. The hazelnut chocolate ganache was a definite hit with my... More
