It's a small but personal restaurant on the east side. I stopped in for a quick lunch a bowl of meatball soup. It was perfect, I ordered the bowl and the cup would have been enough for me but I saw the other meals and they looked delicious, you know you eat with your eyes first. Tiny tiny... read more

We were coming into town just as the place was opening on a Saturday morning. I had heard of it and was thinking it worth a try. My wife was a tad more skeptical but we ended up having a fun introduction to Venezuelan fare. Even though the young man behind the ordering counter must have covered the items hundreds... More

La Taguara, great tasting food. Great help from the staff in selecting our first Venezuelan meal. The side of sweet plantains with my meal made me wonder why I don't cook them more at home.

I recently went there for my birthday lunch because I enjoy trying new cuisines. Out of the five of us, one or two got a vegetarian dish, one of us was vegan, and myself and my sister got a seafood dish. I got the Mojito en Coco dish, which was both not very interesting and also too salty (though I... More

I came here by myself and really enjoyed my visit. The restaurant has a very casual environment, but the food was great! I look forward to coming back.

Came here for my birthday to have my favorite, El Pabellon, and top it off with churros & chocolate sauce! The shredded beef was perfectly seasoned, the black beans tasty and the plaintains cooked just right -- crispy, but the sweetness of banana flavor still came through. Churros with chocolate sauce can replace birthday cake any day for me! Go... More

First of all, I love eating in a place where there are other languages spoken, like at La Taguara. It is transporting, like the food. My husband had the national dish and I had the split pea soup and the chicken-mango salad. We went back the next day for more!

This was her first trip to this restaurant and we split three different entrées to get a good understanding of what the restaurant offered. You learn very quickly that this is classic Colombian Venezuelan food and your likes and dislikes will come become very apparent quickly. It was really cool when one of the workers came out and ask us... More

Everything was very very good! Even though we arrived with a line to the door of people waiting to order, we waited no more than 10 minutes to get our food after ordering. The food was amazing, I felt as if I was back in Latin America!! If you plan on ordering an appetizer as well as an entree be... More

I live in Madison and drove past this restaurant numerous times before I finally stopped in to try it....boy, I was missing out! The inconspicuous little restaurant is right on busy East Washington Avenue, which is super convenient if you are out and about on the East Side of Madison. The interior is casual - order at the counter and... More
