3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013 NEW

This was one of my favorite restaurants during our twice yearly visits to Madison, but definitely slipped on this trip. My favorite meal, day boat scallops, has been changed, and no longer has parsnip potatoes, shiitake mushrooms, or crispy bacon. Squid ink risotto just doesn't make it! We were there early and they were already out of the lettuce for... More

Just in on a business trip. Pretty quiet night, pretty empty all over. Service if friendly and supportive, all that it could be. Cocktail, orange old fashioned, pretty much dreadful. Supposed to be an actual cocktail, really just a bourbon and 7 up with a cherry in it and a little funny taste. Not a cocktalian bar, so write that... More

Had the scallops and the Chimichurri Skirt Steak, along with the baked goats cheese and rumaki. All of it was delicious.

The Dayton Street Grill has been around for many years with different names, but this latest edition is the best by far. It is located at the lobby level of the Concourse Hotel which is one short block from the Capitol Building and a block from the Overture Center for the Performing Arts, so it is convenient for concert goers.... I had both dinner and breakfast as I was staying at the Concourse; this is the in-house restaurant. I was eating light so I had soup and a squid appetiser. The squid was NOT fried which was a great change of pace and healthy. The soup was also outstanding. Prices were medium for Madison which was another benefit. I will... More

We've stayed at the Governor's Concourse hotel every year for the past three years and always make a point to eat here at their inhouse restaurant, the Dayton Grille. The food is always delicious and well prepared. We usually enjoy one of the entries which come with 3 dipping sauces of your choice but this time we opted for the... More

While staying at the Madison Concourse Hotel, I ate two breakfast's and one lunch at the Dayton Street Grille. Breakfast provided you an option of a continental breakfast for around $8 or to include the hot breakfast items it was around $13. Their were plenty of choices and the breakfast items were very tasty. I also had the lunch buffet... More

I have eaten here at least 3 times, each time better than the last. The chef is incredible; the choice of sauces sublime and the food always was 5 star. This is a hidden gem just off State Street. Highest recommendation.

The Dayton Street Grille is inside the Madison Concourse Hotel, so not visible to all possible diners. We've eaten there at least half a dozen times, and have found the food exceptional. My favorite menu item is the seared scallop plate with mushrooms, bacon, and parsnip mousse. The scallops have been perfectly seared every time: crusty on the outside and... More
