the crunchy chicken dish was fantastic. I forgot the exact name, but it's what we always order at this place.

We have a book called "Eating Well In Wisconsin" and have always found great restaurants from their recommendations. Lao Laan Xang is no exception. It is small with about 10 tables but it is HUGE on delicious food! We shared spring rolls, soup, cucumber salad and two entrees (24a and 29) I don't think you can go wrong here. We... More

We asked a long haired fellow, on State Street, if he knew of a good Asian restaurant. He told us to go up Willy Street and look for Lao Laan. What a find! I ordered tea and they brought me a light brown creamy looking drink that was delicious. We started with spring rolls, they were really good. I've forgotten... More

My boyfriend and I frequent both locations (other on Atwood Ave.) whenever I'm home in the area. Our food is always delicious and we usually have enough to save for leftovers (double meal value!). We also always make sure to get the tofu spring rolls... I've never had a better one than the ones they make here. SO GOOD! Though... More

We had a blast sharing plates, appetizers, and friendship. We had the spring rolls w/the chinese sausage - the BEST I have ever had. The long song soup was wonderful. My favorite food was the Larp (going back for more of that for sure)! We also had the Lao Combo (not my fav but still good), the mock duck, the... More

This was a celebration meal, wife's birthday, our first birthday meal was a bit of a disappointment, so we went out a few days later to this establishment, had been here on a prior occasion and recalled it favorably. This is a smaller place, so wouldn't recommend for large groups, however, for a couples place its just fine. We ordered... More

We visited on a Sunday night and were able to sit outside. We enjoy sitting outside whenever the weather cooperates and seek out restaurants that have seating outside. The service was excellent, but the food was average. The waitress did a great job at explaining the house specialties and we ordered all that she recommended. They were average. Honestly, we... More

In our first trip to Madison we learned of this small restaurant through Trip Advisor. We located it on the other side of the Capitol from the U of WI campus. It was worth our search. We had lunch, and although it was not busy, the food was excellent. It is not cheap but well worth the cost. I would... More

Lao Laan-Xang is a "hole in the wall" type restaurant - small and with minimal atmosphere. The service is friendly. The food is fabulous. I ordered khao tod nam som and was soon in heaven. Yum, yum, yum! The dish is a ground pork based filling served with lettuce leaves. The diner puts some filling on a lettuce leaf, adds... More

Well I had been thinking of their sticky rice with mango ever since I ate there the first time. So we finally went back for dinner. I thought my choice tasted very good. My other half ordered the shrimp fried rice as he isn't an adventurous eater. He should have ordered some spice to it - it was pretty bland... More
