Doesn't quite meet the hype

If I could give 3.5 stars, i.e., "good"--better than average, not quite very good--I would. My omelet with potatoes was tasty. Not amazing, but good, flavorful, with the potatoes being quite addictive. The atmosphere is loud and crowded in a small space. You stand in line to order your food and... read more

This little place cranks out the most creative and flavorful breakfast dishes around! From a Duck Confit with eggs to their Breakfast Sandwich everything is good. In spite of the calories they must contain because they taste so good; you have to have the house potatoes! They are worth every minute they cost me at the gym!! Gets very crowded... More

We just visited this restaurant as many, many people have recommended it to us for a while. This place seems such a big deal to Madison. In all honesty, this place was good but not what it was hyped up to be. First off, you're lucky to get a table when you seat yourself. The room is very loud and... More

This breakfast and lunch cafe is wonderful. Flowers on the tables, friendly staff, excellent food choices. The sauces they use on what would otherwise be your typical breakfast entrees give a depth of flavor you don't get at your usual breakfast cafe. We will definitely visit here whenever we are in town. Discovered Boursin cheese and all the flavors you... More

There might be a line to order your food but don't worry......This place is worth the wait. The breakfast pastries and scones are amazing.

We loved the Marigold Cafe--and ate there twice on our holiday visit to Madison. The first time we visited we were greeted with samples of EggNog (with or without alcohol), a pleasant surprise. The duck confit hash, squash soup, scramblers and frittatas were fabulous. Adding to the ambiance was live music that was practically magical for the pre-Christmas atmosphere. We... More

I've been to Marigolds twice in the past month. The first time I went I ordered the breakfast sandwich and the second time I had the scrambler of the day. Both items were delicious and so fresh. The staff is nice and they turn around tables quickly (so don't be turned off if it's busy when you walk in). Marigold's... More

Everything was delicious, fresh and tasty. Had an excellent breakfast and will return again. The staff had their meal at the end of our dining experience and it was a pleasure to watch them enjoy the combinations they had just recommended and share camaraderie and fine food. We ordered frittatas that were great but they brought out samples of doughnut... More

The food here is excellent. The only reason I'm not giving this restaurant 5 stars is because it's so crowded (what a wonderful problem for them) and is too small for the business they have. I had their breakfast scrambler and pumpkin latte for lunch. Both were tasty and the latte was very pumpkinny just the way I like it.... More
