Good bar, meh food

I was there on a weeknight not too long ago. The bar was well stocked, decent beer selection and good service. However, my food was so-so at best. I had a roast chicken that was scrawny and dry. The potatoes were good, but that's the side, so, you know. The ambiance was kind of dark, but I... read more

Loved it all! Food, drinks, server, decor!!! Great choice for dinner and drinks in beautiful Madison, WI. Try the goulash and Andes sandwich with tuna.

Had the chicken dinner. Delicious. Everything flavorful and prepared perfectly. Professional and attentive bartender. Got to chat w Chef Joey which always brightens my day. Wish I lived closer.

Certainly something different in madison. The decor was based in books. Quotes from novels on the walls, books lined the ceiling, and wooden tables. The restaurant has board games to play whole waiting for food and the bar has an interesting list of beverages. Food is very good. Worth a trip!

Something for everyone at the Weary Traveler. They also have homemade Kombucha, which is delicious. Full bar, with fun atmosphere as well. Highly recommend the Thai soup with coconut base or chicken vegi chili for a cold day. Husband Bob likes the bad breath burger. I'm gluten free, and enjoy many items that are on the menu. Staff is fun,... More

Having a vegan in the group led us to Weary Traveler. We waited over an hour for a table - on a Monday night - then had a 30 minute wait for food after ordering "the special" and chili that should have been ready to dish up.. It's rather noisy with no separate bar area. The food was tasty, but... More

The atmosphere was nice. The restaurant is small and not too noisy. The waiter was attentive and made sure we were served with our drinks and food in a timely manner. The food was good and not high priced! Thanks!

Came here with a friend for a late dinner during the week. It took some time before we were sat, it was unusual since it was slow. She recommended the Weary's Tom Ka Tofu. When she described the flavors I immediately ordered it. When we got our soup it was watered down. Hardly any flavor. Yuck! How disappointing!

The atmosphere is like an upscale hostel or like a European pub. It's cozy, with nice art, decorations, and books--just a really comfortable atmosphere. The soups and entrees were delicious, with some ethnic touches on "comfort food." Our only disappointment was the cheese plate. In Wisconsin, one expects more from a cheese plate than sliced deli cheeses. Otherwise, it was... More

After eating there maybe 20 times, we had a horrible meal Monday night. The chef lost one of five orders. My friend took it home to go after it arrived 20 minutes late. They gave us 25% off. The carne asada was so tough, I took it home to the dog. The chips were soggy. The bill was messed up.... More
