Very well prepared tasty food. The wheat pancakes are a favorite. Order at the kitchen window and find a seat (try to get one by the window). 8 am Saturday was still a good time before the lines formed.

I've lived in Madison for over two years now, and Sunroom is my favorite place for breakfast. It is reasonably priced, and the food is great. The breakfast potatoes are my favorite. I frequently bring guests from out of town here for breakfast, and they all enjoy it. They also have a decent spread for lunch. I've had the turkey... More

Great spot right on State Street. Sun filled room with wonderful food and great service. Don't let the line discourage you, it moves pretty quickly.

Location is ideal, food is good and atmosphere is ok...a good alternative to typical franchise. The problem is that restaurant has limited seating and usually crowded with more people than seats...then the people in line 'save' seats before ordering, so when you do finally order and get your food, you don't have a seat and are forced to stand with... This cafe near the University of Wisconsin is an insider's pick. The little yellow awning with the name on it would not draw you in as you look up the stairs, but at the top of the stairs is a great little cafe with excellent breakfast and lunches at a reasonable price. The menu is wide ranging and includes vegetarian... More

Twice a year we visit Madison and I become a regular for lunch at Sunroom Cafe. Though I've tried several other items, my go to favorite is the tuna avocado plate. It is a large plate, covered with romaine lettuce, which is then topped with tuna salad, avocado, cucumber, tomato, and shredded carrots. On the side is some whole wheat pita... More

The Sunroom Cafe seems to cater to hung-over college students thereby serving an important community need. This being a principal demographic, however, I don't understand why the place is set up to make you wait in an uncomfortably long line, wondering if there will even be a table to sit at when you finally reach the end. There is nothing... More

We had lunch 2 times at this charming cafe as the food was superb! Located on a 2nd floor overlooking Madison's famous State Street, your options are vast here. Sandwichs, soups, omeletes, salads galore, many vegan options, fish, and pasta dishes. Great coffee options and even wine and beer if the mood strikes you. The smoothies were exceptional. You order and pay at the counter,... More

Good basic breakfast food. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. A little run down, but good food for college students.

Don't let the long line of people waiting on the stairs deter you, it moves briskly and is worth the wait. My wife and I had found the Sunroom Cafe on Google Maps while searching for brunch places near our hotel on our upcoming trip. A quick scan of the menu made our decision for us. As with any restaurant... More
