We often go to Kabul when in Madison and were very upset when the restaurant temporarily closed when the building they were located in was bought to put up a high rise apartment building. I am happy to say that they have reopened in a new location and their menu is better than ever. Many outstanding dishes with their stuffed... More

My wife and I tried out Kabul for the first time last night. They just reopened in their new location- we sat upstairs but the outside seating looked great as well. We had Ashak for an appetizer then split a citrus salmon dish and a lamb dish. Everything was cooked perfectly as the fish and meat both melted in your... More

I usually research for restaurants(on tripadvisor) In our trip to Madison i wanted to surprise my wife with something new, she loves Pakistani, Indian and all Mediterranean and middle eastern food. I found this place in downtown Madison and decided to try Afghan food, well we asked the server for a good traditional dish and it happened to come with... More

We went here expecting something special. The bread was stale and the olive oil was rancid. Our food was bland and we didn't finish it. All in all a disappointment.

Kabul merits your visit. Savory flavors, well prepared. Our choices on this visit included Lamb Kabobs with peppers, onions, tomatoes accompanied by saffron rice and preceded with a delightful salad. Our other option was tilapia (fresh and tasty) with lemon butter, artichokes and mushrooms. Great value. Great ethnic cuisine.w

We sat outside, people watching on State St., which was great. It was incredibly hot inside the restaurant. However, the table was quick rickety and unstable. We ordered hummus as an appetizer, which isn't on the menu. The waiter was glad to provide it as an appetizer. It was the best part of the meal. The flatbread was just ok,... More

from the salad to the bread to the kabab - great flavours for a very reasonable price. Lunch on the patio was a treat.

Nice change of pace and very good mediterranean and Afghan food. Ethnic restaurant with few frills, but cost was reasonable. Madison's collection of ethnic restaurants make this a must. Afthan bread was hot and delicious. Wait staff was very attentive and food was served promptly

We stopped for lunch after visiting the farmers market. This cool little restaurant located on busy State Street serves up delicious foods. Afghan bread with outstanding cilantro and pepper chutney were brought to the table before ordering and drinks were served promptly. The lamb kabobs were cooked to perfection. Seasoned and charred on the outside and pink on the inside... More

Okay. 3 out of 5 because I wasn't a fan of the food, but the service was great. I must also give credit to Kabul's attempt to offer genuine, authentic Afghan and Mediterranean food, thereby adding to Madison's collection of ethnic cuisines. Also, I must acknowledge that although I wasn't a fan of Kabul's food, the friends I went with... More
