Delicious, beautiful place to eat a relaxing dinner. We had tasty appetizers and dinners for our vegetarians and meat eaters. We relaxed in the candle light and enjoyed the 70s music!

First of all, before I get in depth with the full review, I would like to say, this review is from an afghan national whom has had the opportunity to try all sorts of middle eastern and Mediterranean dishes. So, at any rate, we arrived and the staff were VERY friendly and professional. Our server had limited knowledge in what... More

We visit Madison annually, and my favorite is always the raspberry chicken from Kabul. We look forward to our meal all year! The hummus is always fresh and delicious, and the lamb stew has a tender and beautiful flavor on a bed of seasoned rice. Never had a bad experience here and looking forward to our next visit.

The eggplant with yogurt and meat sauce is really good for an appetizer. I got a beef entree and subbed cous cous for rice. It was also very nice. They sure kept the naan coming too. I only wish they made pita sandwiches (like a shwarma or gyro or whatever you want to call it)... I've only had afghan food... More

This restaurant had to relocate across the street due to new construction taking over their old location to build a high rise -- yes on State Street. Although the new restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated, sadly for me some of the charm is gone. The quality of food remains top notch, but there are a few kinks that need... More

Kabul is better than ever!!! They offer hand-crafted decor and a choice of dining experiences from quiet booths upstairs in the back to refreshing patio seating! Hamid had done an outstanding job with the restaurant and always makes us feel like we are special! We'll be back often!

Not to be deterred by the new second floor location, finally reopened after the iconic street level restaurant was forced to close due to new student housing construction, I happily entered a world of culinary bliss, If there can be a more exquisite meal had anywhere up and down State Street, please let me know; otherwise, treat yourself right and... Our love affair with Kabul continues. Their new location is between It's Sugar and Wendy's across from the old location. There is an al fresco dining option. Proceed to the second floor. You enter into the long bar area. There are tables and two booths in the rear. Walls are white with wood grain tables. Our visit was for lunch.... More

We often go to Kabul when in Madison and were very upset when the restaurant temporarily closed when the building they were located in was bought to put up a high rise apartment building. I am happy to say that they have reopened in a new location and their menu is better than ever. Many outstanding dishes with their stuffed... More

My wife and I tried out Kabul for the first time last night. They just reopened in their new location- we sat upstairs but the outside seating looked great as well. We had Ashak for an appetizer then split a citrus salmon dish and a lamb dish. Everything was cooked perfectly as the fish and meat both melted in your... More
