big noodle soups...

I didn't try sushi here, but the noodle soups are big and very tasty (about 15$). With lots of vegetables and some meat or fish inside (the chicken breast was a bit dry, so better order fish). The place is big, and one can watch the typical japanese cook show. Still is a reasonably quite place... read more

My husband and I have been to Takara three times in the last year. The food is always outstanding. They offer both traditional and hibachi style meals, as well as, a wide variety of fresh sushi.

Me and my husband love to try different cuisines. We went to Madison to visit Lake mendota and after that we were roaming on state street and we found out these Japanese restaurant. Nothing outstanding, had ShoGun roll, $10. Nice big place, good luck finding parking, nice clean sushi bar, could do without disco music....

On a very cold Saturday, my wife and I were in Madison for a little Valentine's getaway. We went down by the capitol looking for a sushi restaurant for lunch. We stumbled across this place after trying to get into Red Sushi... who was closed between lunch and dinner. It's a pretty small place, nothing to speak of much in... More

I generally approach sushi in any midwest city with some expectation of just so...so. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fish and the preparation at Takara. Chef's work in an open area you can sit at the bar and watch or a nearby table. We had three guests with us and we... More

I really like going to Takara for lunch and getting their lunch sushi. 3 rolls for $13, and they are good!

We chose to have both Sushi and hibachi and it was all dry good. The hibachi chef was friendly and seems to enjoy his job. Not just a routine for everyone. The sushi was very fresh and had great flavor. My 17 year old son said it was the best sushi roll he has ever had.

Unexpectedly delicious!! My son wanted to have hibachi for his 16th birthday dinner. Our family favorite place was booked. We convinced him to take a risk and try a new place. Sooo glad we did... We now have a new favorite. Since it is a small place on the busy State Street in downtown Madison we were unsure what to... More
