This was a charming place at one time, but they are just barely keeping it up. The food was very disappointing & not fresh - the beats were fermented and the reuben was just okay. The price was reasonable, but what good is that if the food is so bad. The service was fair, but everything seemed dirty. The ice... More

Took our kids here and they loved it! I recommend going at night when the carousel is lit. It gives it such a magical feel for them.

When I was little, my mom used to walk here with me in my little red wagon, so Ella's will always be nostalgic for me. So the last time we visited Madison, I decided to take my family. The food was really good, as usual. I got a ranch chicken sandwich that was soooo good. Their menu is huge, but... More

Food is good but the place is a madhouse on Friday and Saturday nights. The inside is very "busy" with lights and things flying around and moving. I like a tranquil dining experience so this place isn't for me (at least dining in).

We have had the pleasure of dining at Ella's several times and have always had a great experience. Not only is the decor nothing short of awesome with all of the moving toys everywhere, but the staff is always hard working and friendly, and food consistently good. Their sloppy joe is a favorite, as is their grilled pound cake. Our... More

Amazingly distracting decor--which makes it fun. All kinds of moving displays above your head and beyond as well as a real working carousel on the parking lot. Don't miss the Beatles Band Stand and moving Yellow Submarine. Plenty of action heroes, like Spiderman and Superman, as well as Disney characters like Dumbo and Snow White. Food is average deli style... More

Visited this place last night. I waited almost 10 min to be seated when they weren't even busy. I went up to the cooks (who were just talking to each other) and asked if we are supposed to seat ourselves. All he said was "isn't there a hostess over there?" I said no and waited another couple of minutes until... More

We first found this place 10 years ago before having kids, and had a lot of fun even at the time. There are so many animated displays that are very entertaining for kids of all ages. I'm not a huge fan of kosher delis, and I've never been impressed with the food at Ella's Deli. The ice cream on the... More

The many kitschy decorations are something of a distraction, but the food is very good. This is one of the finer kosher-style delicatessens that I have visited, which include many in New York City and the Los Angeles area.

good food and service, unique in WI as it's decent deli style. A must if you have kids; with noise and moving mechanical toys and a carosel. Don't come here for a quiet lunch, but if you like to watch kids having a ball, it's a must see. Atmosphere is left unrated as: It's terriffic if you have kids and... More
