My group ate here because everywhere else we wanted to go downtown had a 60-90 minute wait and didn't take reservations. We settled on Blue Marlin because someone who travels to Madison regularly said she heard it was good and they had no wait. "No wait" should have been a clue... I had the shrimp pasta diablo, which was spicy... More

If you're downtown Madison, and you get a hankering for some good seafood; Blue Marlin is the place to pull into.

We went there for dinner during restaurant week and had a fabulous 3 course dinner for $30! I had a thai style crab soup as an appetizer which was simply delicious followed by a flawlessly prepared salmon, probably one of the very best I ever had. It was served with a jalapeño risotto which was delicious followed by a desert... More

One of special places in Madison where you can get seafood. Service is nice without overdoing it, but more important is the great quality of the food. I had Iha Tuna, that was very good. Normal portion and a bottle of nice Sancere

The blue marlin has been around for a long time but it's menu has kept up. They have a large offering of appetizers and sides and although most items are seafood, there are also a few steak items as well. For appetizers my husband had crab cakes and I had mussels. Crab cakes were dense and packed with crab and... More

I've been here once for dinner. It's very small and the portions are small especially for the price. If you like sea food and don't mind paying a little extra for it and not eating a whole lot it's the place for you. The quality of the food is good, but just not a place I need to go to... More

Blue Marlin did not disappoint. Our dinner included pan-seared Whitefish , trout and Ahi Tuna. The Whitefish was fresh tasting and prepared well. It was layered on a bed or arugula with a non-descript salsa. Ahi and trout were also flavorful and cooked well. Our appetizer of fried calamari was the highlight for us. Delicate, tender and flavorful. Overall, our... More

I was disappointed in the Blue Marlin after dining there for a business lunch meeting. The space is nice and service was up to par, but the food was really lackluster. The Gazpacho was not pureed enough and tasted more like a mild salsa, the Caesar salad was absolutely pathetic, it actually looked like a salad that had been half... More

This has always been one of my favorite restaurants since I moved to Madison for college almost 10 years ago. The food is high quality and done right. My husband proposed to me here, and we always come back on the engagement anniversary (and any other time we can thoughout the year)! I've brought my parents here as well. The... More

Blue Marlin is a quaint and nice little restaurant off the corner of the Capital square. Before I had them in Baltimore, I was convinced Blue Marlin's crab cakes were the best. The oysters seemed pretty fresh here as well. The entree menu is a little lacking in variety, but it is compensated for in quality. The monkfish and the... More
