Top notch service, great view, delectable food, stellar presentation. If I kept typing I would just gush. This is a delightful experience. Went here on a weekday evening for a late Valentine's dinner. If you can afford it, please...treat yo-self. This is now all I want for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries. I will be back as often as I can convince... More

I've been here on several occasions for dinner. Never have I been anything less than totally satisfied. The food is terrific, as is the service and the ambience. I have dined at restaurants from coast to coast, and not many can beat L'Etoile Restaurant in Madison. The chef, as you are probably aware is a James Beard Award Winner, awarded... More

I recommend to bring your foodie friends here, and they will not be dissapointed. I do suggest make a reservation ahead of time. There were three of us dining for the first in L'Etoile last Saturday. One of my friend did the 7 course Chef tasting menu, and my friend let me try most of it and all I can... More

I dined at Alinea in Chicago three months ago. This was better food. There was less presentation production but the wall of glass windows facing the Capital with a view of light fog and a light dusting of snow falling was all the theatre required. Add the music being played at a volume that allowed quiet conversation between old friends... More

I've been here for dinner and for a client event. You couldn't ask for more attentive service nor better food. Of course, you would expect that when the chef's a James Beard winner. And he's committed to serving WI farm-to-table cuisine with white table cloth service. Everything is first class, including the ambience.

This is probably the best restaurant in Madison for upscale food. It has been a tradition for 20 years with a new chef who has taken L'Etoile to a new level. Pricey entrees and extensive wine list but be prepared to spend for the experience. The price is worth the trip. The glass enclosed restaurant is next door to the... More

My husband and I had dinner on Valentine's Day at L'Etoiile with another couple. The food was excellent, the ambience delightful, the service impeccable-- and the price? Pretty exorbitant, even with a fixed-price menu. But we're still glad we did it, at least until the Visa bill comes.

My wife and I were very pleased with our visit. I normally don't ever eat French onion soup, but it was a special and the chefs twist on a French onion soup. I couldn't believe how flavorful it was. Enjoyed every course, every bite.

Great experience. The restaurant is located right across from the capital building. Can't beat a nice evening at that location. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Ordered the Oak Ridge lamb. It was tender and very-well prepared, one of the best I've had.
