The portions are larger, but the taste is not quite the same. The chicken was a bit thick and to me a bit less flavorful. The pork was fine. The bread texture has changed too. I prefer more flavor and less bulk. The kids enjoyed the abundance of pasta. It was not inexpensive.

Lombardino's is a reliable Madison staple for Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is one of the best in the city for slow-dining experiences with somewhat cozy but comfortable quarters. It's nice but not so fancy that you'd feel out of place wearing business casual attire or a nice shirt and jeans. Diners here are often so talkative that it can get... More

We were staying at the Best Western Hotel across from this restaurant and decided to give this place a try. We made reservations for 7:30 on a Wednesday night and were surprised how busy they were. The bar area is old world for sure and seating in the main dining area was cozy but not too tight. I'm a big... More

Wonderful meal, atmosphere, service, and attention to detail! We have been going here for years and it keeps getting better. They do everything right. They have a wonderful seasonally inspired menu that always delights, fresh ingredients, and a great wine list. This is a great place to take family from out of town, celebrate a birthday, graduation or anniversary, take... More

The food was outstanding, service was great! The restaurant is a bit out of the way, and we did wait 45 minutes for our table.

I know we should try other restaurants when we are in Madison, but we absolutely love Lombardino's and have never had anything but a wonderful experience there. The Italian food is excellent, creative, and consistently good, without being so "nouveau" that it isn't recognizable as real Italian. It has flair, but authenticity. The wine list is also terrific. I love... More

Lovely decor. Great wine list. Bar tenders at bar could be more attentive. Very pushy about insisting you could not carry-over a bar tab to the table service. Octopus appetizer was well-presented and good. Beet salad; Outstanding. Main dish...Scallops were way below expectation...tiny, but pasta was of high quality. Have heard terrific things, so was disappointed. Trying to tell myself... More

We made reservations ahead of time which is a good idea if you want to go. The restaurant is cozy with booths and random antiques. The server was informative and attentive to our needs. We ordered the fried calamari which was delicious and crispy. My husband had the pasta with a bolognese sauce which was good but a bit bland.... More

This is not an expansive or terribly innovative menu/restaurant. The ambience is quaint bordering on ' in need of an upgrade'. On this evening, one couple both ordered the whole sea bass. They judged it to be good. It was preceded by an octopus appetizer. I had the sea scallops in a cream sauce. It was flavorful. My partner had... More

We are staying at the hotel down the street, we stopped by without a reservation on a Saturday night (tonight). The host/hostess were very respectful even though we did not have a reservation. A table opened in the bar so we took the high top. The service by Chelsea was exceptional. The food was excellent as was the beer/wine selection.... More
